Did anyone come home on the B1228 to Howden?
Hi all,
Just back from a wet day at Elvington. On the way up this morning I didn't see a single Scoob until I got into Elvington village. I thought I'd got the wrong day.
I came in up the B1228 from Howden, off the M62. It's the road that runs past York Raceway, which is how I know it. It is a great road with fast straights and some entertaining twisties. Why does everyone use the A1 and A64 from the South. This is much more fun!
No speed cameras. Hardly any traffic and just one apex covered in mud from a tractor coiming home to get the sphincter twitching.
What the hell was under the bonnet of the black Legacy? My kind of Q car!
Thanks organisers for a great (if wet!) day!

Just reminded me that I did have a scary moment when some nutter biker on a GSXR decided to pull a full-on wheelie towards me on the bit of road that goes past the York Dragway turnoff when I was heading in.
Not normally a problem but it was the way he was veering towards me in excess of 80mph on a wet road
Me = Volvo XC70
Vs
Biker = GSXR
Wonder who would have "won"

Yep I went that way in both directions. It's a good road but I was too worried about PC plod knowing about our event. Sure enough on the way back down I did see a police car (about 3:30pm or so).

Top road - I live at the Howden end of it
Police use it for driver training, but the only place I've ever seen a plod with a gun is just as you come into the 30 at Howden. They sit in the school entrance on the left hand side.
Camera Vans wouldn't park on it, as they are not allowed to keep the money from the fines - well not until they get it listed as one of their sites.
