inlet manofold makeover...
Well im currently impreza'less so have Thunder8's classic in the garage at the minute undergoing a major transformation.
He's been gathering parts for a few months and its now in to have everything fitted.
Front mount,
Coilovers,
2 pot rears,
RCM induction,
Adjustable FPR,
Samco intake,
Inlet manifold spacer kit,
Header tank spacer kit,
New alternator,
Lots of painting and engine bay bling.
First job was to strip the car down and get the inlet manifold off. He wanted it painting so chose his colour and I got to work with it.
Stripped it bare
All cleaned and now time to mask it up. This alone took nearly 2 hours to do properly.
Once masked it was time for a base. A high temp silver base paint here.
After 3 coats of base I allowed it a day to dry before applying the high temp red that Carl chose. It goes on very dull but comes to life with clear coat......
4 coats of red applied.
Gave this a couple of days to dry with the heating on before getting the clear out.
Once completely dry (gave it a week in the utility room under the boiler) and took it outside for a better look.
Back inside and removed the masking tape.
It came out really well, the silver base coat gives the paint a real sparkle close up. Not to everyones taste but its different.
All back together. ..
Its now back on the car and the car is almost finished.

the paint is proper vht from ebay as this was cheapest place.its got silver base .anertized red and then cleared (as vht recommend for best results )but looks more like candy red :-) ..and wasn.t cheap as i got 2 cans of each at £6.99 a can free postage
the silicone pipe from inlet is a cut down samco £80 item which i got second hand from crazyspeedfreak .this goes into the proper maff housing which bolts onto the Roger Clarke alloy trumpet and air filter ..
