Default Project four into two does go

Well guys its be a long time coming but I think its time to start my build thread.
Hope you guys like it and all advice is welcome.

I will be doing 90% of this myself I have been collecting parts for a couple of years and have a new unit full of nice parts and a two poster to make thing easier.
My direction has changed so many times but I think I'm settled on a corse now there will be lots of picture of progress which I'm sure you will like so to start here's some.

Some of you may no my car when Stratton owned it and the Abw guys done a build thread on the body kit as this was the proto type.well now it mine and I going to put my stamp on it and make it mine :-)

This is how it looked when I picked it up back in June as a bare shell

It have a bolt in cage that had been put in by monkeys and welded by the local birds pigeon s**t everywhere so it had to come out so I sent it out to have a custom cage a kit I brought a while back this was in August had so many excuses and reasons for not being finished so after a visit today have been promised it back next sat I took a couple of pics and frightened myself of how much work I got to do HELP!

Here's my lock up nice eh .

Here's how the car looks now

So what do you lot think:-)

I remember seeing it as a car cover and a water and tool filled boot

It'll be good to see this out of the closet and on the track

What a lockup you've got there! Very jealous.

This should be a top project. Good luck with it.

Thanks for all your support I will try and keep you all informed as much as possible with pictures and problems and good day you no when things go well (so not many of them then) biggest change this week is I'm not going to use the engine tuner built 2.0ltr although with the heads I have on it will be a very good powerful engine but I will always be wondering what a 2.35 would be like so decided to sell mine and buy one well it has been put into motion already

Is he blind that welding is abysmal ,why's he cut the sill gutters to get the front tubes tied into the front strut tops just a simple hole cut and the tube pushed through would have done then weld round the tubes and underneath sylaflex to make sure no water goes in also I would think twice about the bulkhead brace the way the steering column is going to be fixed ??? tubed arches are too low they might as well not be there I think you are going to have to have a lot of questions tomorrow I hope you get it sorted

After over an hour on the phone to him tonight I feel a little but not quite happy now Im Going down in the morning and we are going to go right over it and he said he would sort anything I'm not happy with he explained that the tubing going to the turrets wasn't included in the kit so yes you was right they are not custom cage tube but the rest is I no this as I brought it from a guy off 22b who was selling off his dream before starting.for once he had no excuse for a change on the wheel arch tubbing after I had given him so many pics of other car from various sites so these will be redone I no this means more delays but if we can come up with a plan great if not I'll be taking it away with me what a head ache

This guy was recommended by a mate who had his car done by him and and was a great job so I done no what's gone wrong here I have taken on all the comments from all and will use/disgusts this tomorrow

I was waiting for a comment from mr tubby constructive as always I was sure it would be coming thanks for not letting me down

For once I agree with you THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THAT and I will be addressing that this morning with him I see a classic BMW job he done and it was amazing it was so good that the guy who owned it sold it to some classic BMW collector for a fortune so mine should be much better than it looks so I feel a tear up later

I would question the penetration in some of those welds to be honest. If they look that built up and bad, they will not have flowed through the metal properly. Looks like a hobby welder in places which I'm sure it isn't.

Well after 3hours with the car yesterday going over every little bit and to be honest it looks good to be fare the pictures look worse that it is the pics show where he has finger filed the splatter off the welds are not like a row of Pennies toppled over but close enough the removal of the scuttle is maybe a bit over the top at a closer look its welded all over and sealed very well I would be very surprised if it leaks which is a good thing nothing worse than having drips on you let alone the electrics final thing was the tubbing he is going to check clearance and if it's not enough he going to do them higher like I told him so the upshot of it is yet another delay but after my visit I'm a lot happier in fact I no what everyone said but really it was the bad pictures that made it look bad
