Default SteveP360's Widetrack Daily Driver

Here's what I'm starting with. Collected it from Gatwick last week from big dave aka red devil 2. Got a few ideas kicking around. Nothing Major. Everything thats done to it can be easily removed and resold. Plan is to Ecutek it to around 350bhp, trick the suspension and do something special inside. Wanna keep it a smoker, as really like the stock look.

Its already been detangoed.

Inside is tidy.

Engine needs a clean.

And only 44k on the clock.

Its now on the drive.

It drives like a dream, forgot how nice an unmodified subaru drives, clutch is light , its so quiet and it starts first time without going through a 720 crank like syvecs.

It needs a lot of cosmetics, which I can do myself to get it up to the standard of my last car. Looking forward to getting started.

Well, whats the first thing to do when you get a new car. Yep thats right start stripping the interior.

And this is where I left it last night

Oh and Dave, under the old carpet I found 87p, a bulldog clip and some kids suckers from a gun , a veritable treasure trove.

Managed 2 hours on the car this afternoon

Got the full floor pan cleaned and refitted the carpet. Have also refitted a cleaned handbrake/gear lever surround and all the trims round the edge of the doors. Replaced passenger side trim that covers the seat belt, waiting for other side to arrive from dealers. They were heavily scratched.

Working on my Spec C seats tonight which are going back in. Gonna give them a clean before refitting. Have some raceglaze alcantara cleaner and will APC the backs and sides.

Right, back upright in.

Really pleased with this, its a WR1 rear seat. It was rotten when I got it, managed to bring it back like new, so I have put the one piece spec c rear in a plastic sealed back and put it in the loft. The Spec C rear is new and has never been used so ideal for a future project. The WR1 seat allows me to still re-use the luggage hatch which can come in handy. Off to finish the rear lower.

Time for a brew and spend some time with the misses, before she goes to bed and I can crack on

Full rears now in, very happy with them. They were f***ed when I got them. Have come up really nice.

Gonna get the fronts cleaned again shortly, you gotta do these seats a little at a time to get the best results I have found.

I have heard you can buy a jet black one, they were in some JDM cars, have yet to see one, Scott at Scoobyspares says he has seen one and it looked awesome. Once the mats are in there is very little carpet visible.

Maybe you could try and dye the blue one jet black as a experiment there Steve ? Wait until your wife is in work and get the carpet in the bath

Third clean tomorrow and deodorise then it'll be time to get them fitted.

Off to bed, knackered .

Centre console back in with replaced vents as originals were marked, that job was easy,

Went to put the seats back in and have found that the seat bases have different mounting points between an 03 sti and a widetrack/hawkeye. Ironically the mount point on the seats themselves are the same so next job is to swap the seat runners over. First one removed.

Hopefully get theseats in tonight

It might be easier to get hold of than you think mate, I have a UK spec 05 WRX and the carpet in mine is jet black. Not for sale though as it does look smart

Quick update as have been busy on a few other things and on holiday. Alternator belt replaced. Lower zunsport grill fitted, debadged grill and upper custom zunsport mesh to match lower. Many thanks again to Ryan (prodriverules) for debadging and painting the upper grill and repainting the fog light covers as they were really bad. Ryans work never fails to amaze me with its quality and attention to detail.

Front end mods is pretty much done now. Couple of quick pics.
