Default Cocky blob

having recently parted with my jdm sti hawk and missing the Subaru scene I jumped back into another albeit older and in need of some tinkering.

I wanted to do a proper project and having started one previously in my gtr but selling it before I finished I figured I would start straight away this time.
When I saw this impreza for sale on here I realised it had a lot of potential.

Here is my old hawk

It had 350bhp and similar torque. It sold a week after I removed it from sale. I was given a offer I couldn't refuse

Here is what replaced it and plenty of spare cash to pay of my credit card, and money for my project

It has 407bhp and around 400lb of torque but it's super laggy. Power delivery is intense but IMO needs some tinkering. I have plans to go fully forged but not until the EOY. BRD is my chosen tuner to take on the work when the time comes.
For now it's fix the look, then the handling then the power.

First thing first was to change the wheels. I'm not a fan of gold on blue so the OZ prodrives had to go. They were replaced with rota grids 9.5j

A tad on the wrong side of the law so it's getting BRD arches soon.

I also had to lose the big blue spoiler. I've had three subaru's now, 2 blobs and a hawk and all of them had the same spoiler so I removed it.

What a mess though

So I sanded it down, cleaned it all up in preparation for this

This is what's coming

I've filled all the holes now and done a great job IMO but here is a pic of the first hole filled

Looks messy but once they were sanded down and smoother out they look very professional. I've bought the correct pain and primer so as soon as the weather turns I will finish it off

Next on the list was some rear spats and under side skirts

A few more coats needed before fitting

Next on the list is to look at the suspension. I've got quite bad rear knocking of the struts so I'm thinking bc racing coilovers and k sport 6 pot breaks but still undecided

Currently on prodrive lowering springs and kyb Ultra sr Gas shockers

Not a massive move forward but plenty of pics. Almost finished the boot. Just need to sand it down lightly for a final spray.

Sun was out so I did wax job on it

Small update

replaced the engine lambda sensor yesterday to fix an idle issues and a fresh remap to deal with a poor cold start and a more drivable setting.
Ive dropped the old 1.3 and 1.4 setting in favour of a 1 and 1.6 bar setting. Previous graph showed 407bhp at 1.4 bar. Not sure what I'm getting now but its more intense lower down the gears.
Also had a fast road set up done as well. Really needed it.

These wheels are massive on the car, seen it a Gi. Are you going for a rear Voltex diffuser and spoiler?

I got a deal on an EVO one in F/G it just fits but the zorst cut out is different, but could cut to fit as I won't be using it.

I'm having the spoiler made up but we are only at the drawing stage. Its becoming more complicated than first thought.
Wheels are 9.5j but 0 rubbing. Diffuser will look ace but it's last on my list
Arches are next on the cosmetic list as my wheels looked prolapsed.

boot lid was booked in to be resprayed but as the mapping to longer than expected I had to cancel it. I'm thinking of wrapping the full car anyway so I'll hold off for now.

Cheers mate, I'm at GI Motorsport not this Tuesday coming but the one after so the 16th. A little more fine tuning needed. This Autronic sm4 is a bit old tech when mapping it but the lad at GI has done a good job so far.

I have a custom made turbo going on soon so my rcm400 is up for grabs. Its in great condition. Less than 10k on it. Currently making 407bhp @1.4/1.5bar. For anybody in or around central Scotland thats interested you are more than welcome to see it working on my own car before it comes off.
Once off you can give it a good once over. As far as im concerned its in tip top condition.
I will advertise it on here when it comes off late August.
£600 for a 420bhp turbo.

Right so only 4 weeks now until the new turbo goes on. I cant give to much detail on it as its custom built and the builder would like the details kept secret but I can divulge that its going to be billeted, heads will be ported to match, the housing will be much bigger than a 20g but again the front and rear will also be machined to match with many other goodies.
What I will need doing is to get myself a set of arp head studs fitted until I get round to forging the engine. Im going about this build back to front I know but as I am very mechanically sympathetic to the engine im confident all will be ok, hell the car only gets used to get me to work right now and I live and work in the city so no heavy foot.

Canards are going on when the turbo is fitted. Not sure about wither or not is legal but I've had plenty of police sit behind me with my wheels sticking out and not a peep from them. Guess I will need to wait until the mot comes a calling.
