Lost cause v5 type-r will be given a new lease of life!
Hi all,
I am starting a fantastic project for myself over potentially the next year or so.
I have just purchased a verison 5 impreza type-r in white.
The car itself requires lots and lots of work. It has all the right parts, but it hasnt been built very well or wired for that matter...
It has not tax, no mot, and basically the shell is rotting away. The PS jack sill is almost non existent, and has totally rotted through. As has some of the boot inside.
She has many more other cosmetic issues, however the running gear is fantastic, shes low mileage but has been stored the wrong way aroud damp i believe.
After a little research, I have been quoted over £1000 to have the welding repaired etc...
so thanks to a snet member, I have been able to source myself a lovely clean, rust free type r v-limited shell
This shell once collected will be sanded back, treated, and repainted. Then the transfer can begin.
I will post pictures on the weekend of the type R so you can see what im up against. The thrill of bringing her back to life is exciting, and I cannot wait to get her back on the road again.
The current block in my car is a blasted CDB. The housing is mega clean, she has genuine sti heads on it, new steel 1.6 gaskets and a new dayco cambelt fitted.
This block will soon be up for sale, as I am going to drop a well cared for version 5/6 sti lump straight instead.
This current block needs an sti inlet, and turbo inlet pipe and shes ready to go! the stock internals were renewed 4years ago, shells and rods i believe but its not forged. Its a solid block and there worth bloody good money in the condition mine is. Pm me if interested.
Pics due this weekend, let the games begin!!
P.s
Shes going back to stock, so the current Apexi FC & Apexi boost controller will shortly be up for sale.

Right guys, here is my progress so far... It's all time for me as I have my boy every other weekend and will not touch a spanner when i have him, so its 2 in every month to play.
I have transported the shell to my mums where it will sit till the end of may. My shell is waiting for me in preston at the moment, so arranging to bring her home.
I have some awaited pictures, she is much shabbier than she looks body wise, but you get a rought idea by these pics.
Everything will be documented throughout the build so stay subscribed, but please allow time. Perfection cannot be rushed

Your not kidding lol. Shock horror springs to mind, but sets the bar even higher the running gear is fantastic.
Was heading for the scrapper... Wasn't prepared to let a delicacy go to waste

Update for all!
Been a crazy few weeks, have really just been figuring out how to get my new shell from Preston, lancashire... to Bristol lol...
Well after many bids and offers on fleabay, and I am set! I have purchased a low level car transport trailer and an isuzu trooper to pull it.
( Yes, i genuinely have bought these just to collect this bloody shell lol )
I am collecting the shell saturday around 10am. Once i get the 2 type r's back on my driveway, the spanners are coming out!
Pics and a full report on route!
