Default My Blob project!!!

COPIED FROM MY PROFILE FROM NORTH EAST SUBARU FORUM. Some of it may not make sense because I cut cut and pasted it and missed out other users comments which I have been replying too.

Hello, only been a member on NESF for a month or so now and only been an owner of a Blob for the same amount of time. Already have plans for it. Firstly I will upload some images of it now and then give a list of everything I want to do to it and any reasons for doing so. I'm open for your opinions if you want to share and any ideas you have also.

I want to buy an STI from a Salvage Auction and use all the running gear from the STI and use it to convert my WRX (Salvage STI's cost around £3000-£4000). Then all the running gear I took from the WRX I can sell on to generate some cash, Im guessing I would make around £1700 so that £1700 can be knocked of the £3k-£4k I spent on the Salvaged STI, then the rest of the STI I don't need I can break for spares to sell, I could generate another £1000 so effectively if all go's well I can buy an STI for £3500 and sell the bits I don't use for £2700 making the conversion cost as little as £800. I know you will all say just sell the WRX and buy an STI but a decent low mileage STI your looking at £8000 and then you have to mod from scratch, whereas this way I have the car looking as nice as I want it and for as little as £800 I could basically have an STI.

Current Spec:
VF34 Turbo
Pink Injectors
STI TMIC
Stainless system and Decat
Simtek Ecu

Modifications I want to do:

Engine:
JonnyGav TD05 18g
FMIC
Headlight Cold Air Induction - Has anyone on here does this? If so any photos of what it looks like under the bonnet
Stainless Headers and Up-Pipe
STI Inlet Manifold
Oil Cooler under the Scoop
All Pulley's Sprayed Blue
Brackets Sprayed Blue
Bolts Sprayed Black
White Hose Kit
White Dress Up Kit
Inlet Manifold Sprayed Blue
Anti Lag
Mafless
Larger Brakes - K-Sport or Brembo's

Exterior:
Tinted Headlights
Tinted Tail Lights
Vortex Fins

Interior:
Flocked Interior
Triple Pillar Gauges
Buckets
Roll Cage

That's all I can think of the top of my head and its a long process project, to be honest half of the above wont even happen but whatever does happen I will update as and when it happens. Thinking of doing the FMIC and Induction this or next week.

------------------------------------The following week------------------------------------------------------------

Just an update!

Current Spec:
VF34 Turbo (SOLD)
Pink Injectors
STI TMIC (SOLD)
Stainless system and Decat
Simtek Ecu (Found out its actually an AlcaTek)

Modifications I want to do:

Engine:
JonnyGav TD05 18g (Currently being built Very Happy)
FMIC (Has been primed and awaiting the VHT Paint to arrive Smile
Headlight Cold Air Induction - Debating on this, I have another Idea. Just to route a CAI up another route
Stainless Headers and Up-Pipe (I have asked Finn to port me some headers and looking for an up-pipe)
STI Inlet Manifold (Most likely buy an aftermarket race one and throttle body)
Oil Cooler under the Scoop (Havent bought it yet but have organised an engineer to make me some brackets)
All Pulley's Sprayed Blue (Removed from the car but spraying them white now)
Brackets Sprayed Blue ( Spraying them gloss black now)
Bolts Sprayed Black (Ordering new stainless bolts)
White Hose Kit (Getting a blue hose kit for my birthday Smile )
White Dress Up Kit (Also getting a blue one for my birthday Smile )
Inlet Manifold Sprayed Blue (Getting sprayed White now)
Anti Lag (If I have enough money hopefully Bob Rawle will be doing this 8th May)
Mafless (Found out its already running maf-less)
Larger Brakes - K-Sport or Brembo's

Exterior:
Tinted Headlights
Tinted Tail Lights
Vortex Fins

Interior:
Flocked Interior
Triple Pillar Gauges
Buckets
Roll Cage

Remap: Andy Kingdons 8th May Smile

Next update will be the FMIC Sprayed and mounted, CAI intake piped to engine bay, bumper cut and fitted.

Following updates will include new turbo fitted, ported headers fitted, new up-pipe and most likely blue hose kits, resprayed parts in the engine bay and FMIC piped up with induction etc.

------------------------------------------------A few days after--------------------------------------------------

Just updating again!

FMIC Sprayed black and mounted.

Also in the middle of removing (hacking and grinding due to how rusty it is) the headers heat shield so I can remove the Headers and send them off to Finn for them being ported Smile Also have a STI Decat up pipe in the pipeline depending on how much I can get a harveys up pipe for.

I couldnt get hold of a grinder or dremmel so my trust junior hacksaw saved my **** until it snapped and I had to finish it off with a fine toothed cheese knife which gave it a better finish than the hack saw Smile

Hack saw finish....

Cheese knife finish.....

Il keep you updated Smile

--------------------------------------------A few hours later----------------------------------------------------

Hahaaaaaa Im going to fit HID's or Xenon kit anyway and the headlights are going to come out to fit the sidelight bulbs. Tango or De-Tango.... hmmmmm :/ I will have a think. Im also going to run a CAI Duct up into the engine bay too so the bumper wont be going on just yet.

Her are some more photo's too, I have just put a couple of pipes in and removed the foglight housing.

Foglight housing cut..

First pipes in place not clamped up yet.

Bumper sat in place

The 2 Bolt Harvey up pipe is £148 wrapped with DEI heat weap Loui and are in stock bud

They are cheaper un wrapped but didn't ask how much as you want it wrapped ideally and DEI wrapping is about as good as it gets..

I never mentioned the LEDs on NESF cos I didn't want to offend you but they do look a tad ****e m8y

Remap: Andy Kingdons 8th May Smile (Deposit Paid)

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Set off to tackle my corroded heat shield today and after fighting for an hour in the cold I called it a day. I discovered my up-pipe isn't the WRX one but im not sure which up-pipe it is. Here are some images on the rust I have had to grind away and also some of the up pipe if you can identify...

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Received my hose kit today, only the start to my engine bay makeover. Only cheap hoses but seem strong and thick enough. Im not sure I would go cheap on intake hose.

If my dress up kit arrives tomorrow I will update some more photo's plus if my paint arrives some of the FMIc pipes will be finalized and fitted too.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Pretty happy chappy this morning! Apart from being burnt several times by shrapnel from drilling and the headers falling from the car and landing on my head... overall a good morning! It is a slip jointed up-pipe and also Im sure the headers are ported! I removed all the rusty heat shield and the new heat wrap is in the post Here are some photo's anyway of the aftermath and the headers and up-pipe etc.

The aftermath...

What a relief I took the headers off because they were full of coolant, when disconected the turbo the hose must have pointed down the up pipe :/

Up pipe..

Can anyone identify if these have been ported, I reckon so..

Rusty shield!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

More blue.........

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Pipes sprayed and ready to go on

------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have adapted my K&N Typhoon to fit my car by removing the pipe which takes it through the inner wing to this....... but is it just me or is that cone too small? If so I will just sell the full unit and buy a larger cone and trumpet. Cheers

-------------------------------------------------------------------

TD05 18g back on home turf! Headers due on Tuesday!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Since running low on cash I started to piece the car together. Headers are coming tomorrow at 3pm Happy chappy, the post man better pull his finger out of his **** and deliver my gaskets tomorrow and she should.... be running again I had the turbo in place earlier and wow I cant wait!

Here are some more pictures to show progress

I will upload the video of me trying to turn it over tomorrow

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Cheers Daz

I never received the headers today due to unforeseen circumstances. They are due tomorrow around 5ish. So I get to start her for the first time whilst everyone is trying to enjoy their tea and watch TV

Anyway here is todays progress....

Gaskets arrived!

My 18g fitted Well in place, I realised the up pipe needs to be loose for the headers to fit (the hard way)

Also missing 1 nut and bolt I will need to fit tomorrow

Topping her up from replacing all the hoses

Looking sexy with the FMIC! Really needs that "L1OU JH" plate if anyone wants to treat me for my birthday present

Missing the dump valve... but we dont need one of them We just need a bung!!!

Started to clean it and discovered this :@ The wind has blew a tile off the roof and onto the car.. dents and scratches!!

but then I fitted the sticker and it cheered me up!!!

Now waiting for it to dry so i can chamois it and polish it

Tomorrow I will finish it and upload the video etc. and then until summer I will be skint ! So no more project til then. I will get some photos of the mapping day 8th of May though!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Spent some more time with my chamois...

......and then noticed a fooking chip in my windscreen!! WTF!!

Gavin from Autoglass best get a shift on!!!

------------------------------------------------------------------------

She is running Not 100%..... but running. Here are some uploads from today..

Ported headers

Removed the heat shield

Wrapped the headers!

At first it wasnt boosting it blew the FMIC pipe off because I didnt do a bolt up. Then after I fixed that I went to a friends and borrowed his dump valve with his strongest spring to act as a bung.

Its boosting now and giving off a nice chatter but the boost is **** poor and whistles alot whilst boosting, im guessing a boost leak somewhere but thats tomorrows adventure

Any ideas on whistling whilst coming on boost also how to check for a boost leak?

Thanks
