Default Best Scooby engine for VXR

Hi guys, as you might suspect from the title I am a VXR owner... the baby VXR too, the Corsa!

I expect a little bit of tormenting but if it could be kept to a minimum!?

Anyway i'm not here to spam, I just wanted to get you guys opinion on which Impreza engine is the best to look for and which might fit in my little Corsa's engine bay.

Any advice would be much appriciated guys! Thanks..

Get a 2ltr engine from a newage sti. They can be tuned to a healthy 450bhp and you still stand a chance of getting grip? You do realise that will be a nightmare to get the power down on a corsa? Why don't you just put a normal Vauxhall turbo lump in? as it would be a lot easier.

I have the VXR engine, 1.6turbo tuned to 250bhp at the minute! But i want 4wd.

I've seen a subaru lump dropped in a Corsa C with 4wd and its pretty epic. This is the car:

I know its RWD in this video but he has a changable diff and can switch between. I just wanted advice on a solid, tunable engine as i know nothing about the scooby lumps.

So a newer model be my best bet?

I would go for a JDM sti8 engine as it will rev higher than uk models and out of the box will get you the figure I mentioned. It may be easier for you just to buy a crashed STI as it will have all the bits on you want and you will probably have some resale bits as well so will help keep your costs down.

To do what you want to do will cost a lot of money, parts alone will get silly never mind labour costs. I thought you were going to do this yourself but since your paying a tuner its gonna cost, Personally I would get rid of the corsa and buy a car that can make the power you want. It will save you thousands and will be a faster car

Well we have a corsa STi, an Astra STi on its way, so why not by a Vectra and put an STi in that - get one of the V6 ones and you should have more room to play with.

I can't give you any advice on which engine but I wouldn't of thought that was an issue at this stage, the aim would surely be to convert the shell to take impreza running gear, then you can choose or upgrade engines/transmission as if it were an impreza,

I'm doing something similar to an Astra (possibly the one Richy P mentioned) and what I can say and I'm sure James doing similar to a 205 will agree its a lot of work just on the fabrication.

I'm not saying don't do it I would like to see it, but I really wouldn't worry about engines and power yet. But that's just my opinion...
