Default De-eclipsing my hawk

Well I don't know where to start with this thread, basically I bought the car knowing that eclipse performance had built it and it was there project car, the car is a 2006 wrx sl, it was always in total impreza mag on the 1st and 2nd page of eclipse advertisement, it had over 20k in receipts so I bought it.

I'm going to copy the thread of my local forum Nesf, basically my mate trev has done all the work on the car, so the thread is written by him and me so might get confusing lol

lee got the car bak in october and hit problems from day one!

first problem was it wasnt running very well when on boost so booked it in with bob for remap and then found out the fuel pump wasnt up to the job and injectors so replaced fuel pump and fitted 650cc injectors and uppipe, also sorted out a few other bits like boost gauge tee into fuel pressure reg and no gasket on the dump valve! also changed the breathers so they went into a catch can as there was alot of oil in the intercooler and inlet!

after all this was done it went back to bob for remap and all went well and car felt great afterward! but then after running the car for a few miles found that it was using unreal amounts of oil so after talking to jonny gav at one of the meets he said try 15/60 oil rather than the 10/60 he was using! which helped alot and slowed down the oil consumption! also come to the conclusion that it was goin to need a rebuild at some point but how long it would last was anyones guess!!

next problem coilovers knocking
so stripped them all off and checked them but couldnt find out wrong with them but found out the rear seat belt real was not blotted in and was just hanging there rattling about so sorted than put the car back together problem sorted

next problem was the brakes
found that the disc's on the inside were ****ed so back in the shed it went and took them off and got them skimmed but after putting it bak together found that the disc's had warped when being skimmed!! so when lee looked into getting new one's found out the only dealer in the uk for XYZ was esclipse lol so he went direct to XYZ rather than using esclipse as he had already fell out wiv chris lol

after nearly 6 weeks of waiting for them and at the cost of nearly 700quid the new disc's and pads arrived so fitted them just in time for the griplin run last week and are now spot on!!

so just as we fort we were getting somewhere and nearly sorted all the problems this weekend after a oil change the engine started knocking so back in the shed again and engine out ready for rebuild

I sent the engine over to Paul stabler for the rebuild.

paul has got the engine stripped down and found the fault was a incorrectly fitted oil scraper ring on the piston and put a big groove on cylinder 1, also found that 1 of the head bolts was loose, the cam bolts were to tight and he had to use a big bar to free them off and various gaskets wernt on and just used sealent.
paul said he hasnt seen anything like this before
the crank is ok so just sending the block to the machine shop to see if it can be saved

Well I get the car ready, and gets sent to Paul stabler to fit the engine and get it up and running

big thankyou to paul and trev for getting the car up and running today really happy now just waiting till wednesday for bob Rawl to put a running in map on as they was alot of change since the last map

car got mapped back in july, few problems when mapping but got there in the end, but while mapping found out that the turbo is not big enough due to the head work that got done when the engine was rebuilt! still running good power but not at the full potential of the new engine! bigger turbo needed

well! all was going well for the first time since lee got the car but then a few weeks ago the gearbox went

lee managed to find a cheap 5 speed for the time being while he saves for the all important 6 speed for when the bigger turbo is fitted and the power increased!

so out came the old box and the new box is ready to go in tomorrow!
i stripped the old box to try see what had gone wrong and i found some of the gears were missing teeth and there was a small metal pin in the bottom of the box, not sure where that metal pin has come from or if its that that has done the damage

been another busy week working on this, ive re done the calipers and wheels, new rear disc's and pads and fresh fluid aswell

here's is a few pic's before and threw the stages

I took the car to York drag way to see what sort of times she would do, bare in mind it's an SL and weighs near to 1900kg my best time of the day I did
1.6 0-60ft
12.2 1/4mph
110mph
I haven't got a pic of the time slip but can get it if people wanting to see it from reading up on the net 12.2 over the 1/4 in a hawk with a vf43 turbo is pretty good

I took the car to motoscopes rolling road to see what she's pushing out

So pretty happy with the end result
They will be more to come very soon as I've just bought a 6 speed jdm box
Spec c reversed inlet manifold, and a turbo that I don't know what it is, I got told it a fp green but I've just seen it could be an early sc42 billet

If any1 knows what turbo it is please let me know

Some ups and downs with that one mate.

Any reason you put the AP Racing sticker on upside down on one of the from calipers?

Does look much better with the wheels dark and the green calipers, not a fan of the stickers when they aren't AP though

Very good power there! And a great looking car!

Not sure where you've got 1900kg from for the weight though. The WRXs normally weigh around 1380kg, and STis 1480kg ish. So I'd imagine it's somewhere around that figure.

Great 1/4mile run too
