Gibraltar project
We were approached by a client, Albert, who lives in Gibraltar, and likes to use his Scooby on track days. He wanted to improve the experience!
He shipped the car across Spain to Santander and it was duly delivered to us via the ferry link by a Spanish transport company.
Unloading!
All parked up and unsuspecting.
All set for the rebuild, we tested it first. The boost control was really poor, so we gave it a map tweak, just to see what we were dealing with.
That helped right away!
We then pulled the engine and box out. The box needed new synchros.
The spigot bearing was siezed to the shaft, so we had to remove the clutch bolts to get the box off..
Engine out

A few of the parts used;
Cosworth pistons
I beam rods with 625 rod bolts
Cosworth 12mm oil pump
Nitrided crank
RCM twisted kit with GT35R billet
Jetex 3" exhaust. We like these, they flow very well, and aren't too noisy. We weld on a 3" flange section at the front.
Short block assembly, balanced of course.
Heads on
Fully assembled with kevlar belt
And manifold
Radtec oil cooler
All finished!
The final spec includes a twin plate Exedy clutch, Litchfield swirl pot and Bosch pump, Exact fuel fittings and filter, Deatschwerks injectors, Perrin rail system and front mount intercooler, catch tank system etc..
Alcatek engine management
We've also fitted a Toucan touch screen to monitor and control all the features with an LC1 wide band and full sensor pack.
This will cover oil pressure and temp, fuel pressure, charge temp and lambda readings. Any deviation from the pre sets will result in positive action as well as an alert.
It has launch control, anti lag and flat shift enabled.
Albert is flying over in a few weeks. We have a track session booked at Llandow so he can try the car before it's shipped back over, which will be my first Saturday off in what seems like a lifetime! We're seriously looking forward to it.

Alan,
It's so nice to see a tuner go to the lengths that you guys do.
I remember my first build and how deflated I was when I got it back after spending the best part of £10K on it.
When I went to discuss the build before hand we agreed a spec which included all the hoses being replaced for samcos etc.
What I got back was a run of the mill rebuild and no samcos in sight.
After splitting the engine after it failed (6 months after it was built) the Carillo Rods and Omega pistons that were agreed on turned out to be Eagle rods and CP Pistons.
It's just nice to see that you guys continue to be at the other end of the scale to those cowboys and just keep turning out great builds.
Keep up the fantastic work.
