Something A Bit Different........
I know its not a subaru but I thought I would share this with you guys and girls anyway.
My father bought this ford GT40 back in August last year, its running a 5.5 litre V8. It has had a few owners in its life, the first owner started building it some 20 years ago and later sold it in a unfinished condition. As I said its has had a few owners, each one doing a bit on it and having to sell her for one reason or another.
My father bought her being road worthy and it has passed its SVA test. There was still a lot to do on the car as the person he bought her off just rushed the last bit of the build to get it on the road.
There is still a lot to be done and quite abit to be replaced remembering some parts have been on since 1969.
Replace crank seal on the engine.
Fit air con system.
Cut and finish fitting alloy panels.
Re-do fuel system.
Fit new fuel senders.
Cut and fit side windows.
Fit new windscreen.
Fit new brake master cylinders.
Fit a different clutch cylinder.
Finish the dash.
Make a dash plenum for the windscreen.
Sort all the tracking out.
Sort the wiring loom out.
Fit new speedo cable.
Re-trim the seats.
Fit gauges into dash.
Re-build both front uprights.
Make rear bulkhead turrets for the rear cover to lock onto.
Fit front spotlights and make mounting cups for them.
Re-paint steering rack and column.
Fit different rated rear springs.
Fit wing mirrors.
Give engine a good service.
Full re-spray.
Dad has also decided to get a new steering wheel from Moto-Lita with a quick removel boss to help getting in and out of the car.
Here are some pictures when me and my father went to buy it.
Deal has now been done and my father is the new owner.
The car now back home so some pics of what he now has.
Ill keep you posted as we do the work.

Well we spent most of last week working on the car and quite quite a bit done, no where near as much as I would of liked to.
The inside now looks like this:
Got the Aircon/heater box mounted roughly where we want it:
Striped down both front corners and rebuilt them and now back on the car:
We had to move the alternator to the other side of the engine so we could mount the aircon pump in its place:
We spent most of one day sorting out the tracking on the rear of the car:
Ive got the top part of the rear bulkhead now fitted into place:
Also had a wee clean round his floor mounted pedal box:
That's about it for now. We are hoping to spend a full week on her in March before it goes to paint.

Small update.
We have decided to get Goodridge aeroquip fuel lines and unions for the fuel system so hoping to get that ordered tomorrow. Also have found out that we are missing some of the unions for the aircon system so having to order them from America. Dad has also decided to remplace all the blue samco silicon hoses for the black classic silicone ones Samco do.
Got the sparky coming on Tuesday night to start the the wireing loom which as you can see from one of the pics in my posts is in a tad mess.

This had better not be another Toy car, I still remember when you posted up on BABS saying you had a Escort WRC car, I got all excited and it turned out to be a toy car .
Looks a mega project. Must be a hell of a lot of work needed to keep a classic like that on the road.

the GT-40 is on my list of things to buy if i ever won the lottery. superb car, built by ford to p1ss all over ferrari, and did so superbly, retiring from Le man basicaly top of the lot. part of automotive history.
anyone interested in the history of the GT-40, here's the wikipedia link:-

Another update.
Removed both brake servos as they were not doing anything as father is running a bias peddel box, so has freed up a lot of space in the front end.
BEFORE:
AFTER:
Also got the air con dryer fitted now we have some more room.
Removed all the blue samco silicone hoses as well and slowly started to fit the new classic samco black ones with the new alloy joiners.
Father has given the dash a quick spray in satin matt black to give him a rough idea to see what it will look like.
Goodridge should have all our stuff for the fuel system in by Tuesday so looking forward to that package arriving.
Just a random pic my father took today.
