You'll need to find out how many Grams of R134a and compressor oil you'll need me to put in mate.

Update for today.

We got the taller rear springs fitted so should give us more adjustment to set the rear ride height a bit better as the old springs where a lot shorter so you had very little adjustment left for the ride height.

The dash is now in primer and just needs flatting off and smoothing a few places to get a lovely finish, This should hopefully should be painted by tomorrow.

Our Goodridge order came though last week Thanks to EmzWRX for all her hard work in getting us these bits. So I got started on the fuel system as well today. Got both breathers made up and fitted. They are the small of the 2 braided hoses in the pic. The other side tank looks the same.

Also got both feeds from the tank nearly done but we need another 90degree union for the left hand tank. Then I started building up the fuel pumps and filters as you can see. The left hand pump will be fed from the left tank and the right hand pump fed from the right tank. Ive came to a kind of stop with this now until we get another 90degree -8 union from Goodridge.

Father has been busy stripping the car down making it ready to go to paint next week, got all the headlights, indicators, spotlights, rear lights etc off.

Jobs for tomorrow are to get all the air con pipes made up ready to get the ends crimped on, finish the rear bulkhead, fit a smaller belt for the air con pump and try to get the geometry set up on the front a bit better. We are hoping the sparky will turn up tomorrow as well to do a bit more on the loom.

Update.

After a full week on the car it still looks like we have done very little. You don't realize how much time you use up trying to get stuff to fit and then having to make up parts. Went to put the fuel system in to find we needed to another 90degree -8 union and had to get some unions machined as they were way too long so they should be back on Monday, fingers crossed.

I changed the oil cooler piping so it looked a bit neater and added a Mocal oil tempature block as well, We went to a company in town who make up oil lines to see if we could have the two pipes re-ended to be told they have to make up there own pips so at a cost of £53 each we had the two new pipes made up. Got it all fitted and looks a 100 times better.

Went to finish the air con system and cut and marked all the pipes where we wanted them crimped, dropped the pipes off the following morning to get crimped and dropped off the unions for the fuel system at a engineering place to get altered.

Dad finished stripping the whole car ready for paint this coming week, he has moved the rear fog light to it now sits in the center of the rear clip. He has also fitted a identification light which they used to run when they raced at Le Mans in 1968 and 69. This we have found to be a identification light off a Lancaster Bomber.
Also dad made up the covers for the front headlights and spot lights out of sheet alloy and fitted them.

I got the new fuel senders made up for both tanks and got them all bolted in so just need the sparky to wire them up now.

Picked up all the air con hoses and got them all routed through the car fitted and still had to change the route they went from front to back, We have found that when one of this car previous owners who was building it to race he hasn't left much room for anything else which has been a right pain in the ****. Found out that I cant finish off the air con as we now need a new rad fan switch so need the room to get at the coolant pipes where the air con pipes should be. I spent most of that afternoon altering the alloy center tunnel and making up new bits due to the size of the air con pipes.

Dash has now been painted in its final colour so dad has just got to fit the dash up with all his gauges and to give it to his sparky to make up a dash loom with multi plugs on so should we need to remove the dash in the future we don't have to unplug every gauge.

The sparky has spent half a day doing some of the wiring, putting in wires for the amp meter and fuel low warning lights, etc. We then found out the the fan switch on the rad is not working so dad needs to order a new one.

Got the header tank fitted and plumbed in, we wanted to relocate it as it doesn't look right where it is but due to the work involved in relocating it and making up new pipes we decided to leave it where it is. Also got the coil fitted while I was working in that area of the car.

We have now decided on what size and type of seals for all the doors and rear clip we want so they have been ordered.

Finished of making the rear turrets out of cardboard ready to be taken to the machine shop to be made out of alloy. When we get these back it should just be a matter of riveting them on but as this week has shown things don't go as straight forward as that.

Went to fit the side windows which need to be cut to size and end up with a power cut so that ended that job, couldn't make a plenum for the windscreen eather due to the lack of power.

The rear bulkhead is now ready for fitting at long last, dad bought some lead sound proofing so cut and stuck that on.

Still have quite a job list of stuff still to do but most of the jobs on the list just need finishing off like the air con etc

Update:

We haven't done a great deal on the car over the past couple of weeks due to loosing my grandad to cancer so as you can imagine we haven't really had the motivation to do anything on the car.

As it happens the car was booked in for bodywork and paint these last 2 weeks so haven't really lost that much time. The tub was painted blue first, this Triumph Powder Blue and the orange was then pained on top. This is Marigold Orange, these are the original Gulf colors as used back in 1967 by John Wyer.
The paint finish out of the gun is just stunning, all credit to Dave the painter.

Now the tub is painted and polished we can get back on with the build. The rear clip we have found needs a lot of working doing to it to get it back to how it should look, as you can see nearly all of the gel coat has had to go, this is one hell of a job to do and takes ages, the doors are also painted and are ready to get built back up, they just need the orange bit painted on the top but want to wait till they are on the car and the new door seals are fitted so the door sit at the correct height to get the orange strip correct. We are hoping to have all the paint work finished by the 2nd week of April.

The dash is now painted and got all the new gauges fitted so just need the sparky to make up the dash loom.

Filters and unions are now back from the machine shop so got that bolted together, just need to make an alloy bracket to mount the pumps to now. Got the fuel pickup tubes back as well so got them cut down to size and screwed into both fuel tanks.

The rear clip turrets are getting made as we speak and should hopefully have them back by the end of next week.

Father got a nice present the other day when his new steering wheel arrived from Moto-Lita. This again is as per the original ones fitted back in 1967. The only change father has made is to add a quick release as the GT40 is not that easy to get in and out of. It has to be one of the neatest quick release's Ive seen.

We did a test fit and found the steering column need lengthened by 14mm and have also decided to get gear leaver shortened by 35mm. These will be getting dropped off on Monday at the machine shop and hope to see how the turrets look.

That's about it for now. Still a long list of stuff to do.

Another Update for you all.

Here are the rear turrets we had made in alloy and for the photo stuck on the tub to see how they looked. We were somewhat disappointed to find upon collection that they had not had there holes cut as the fabshop was unsure of what we wanted so we drew on the turrets what we were after.

The rear clip was then painted in high build primer, a guide coat applied and rubbed down a number of times to make sure there were no high or low spots on the surface. It was then painted blue and fitted to the car to get the orange strip in the correct place. We are both very impressed with the work that has gone in to get the rear clip back looking its best.

Time to get the front clip back looking as it should. We hoped that there wouldn't be as much work to do front clip but the more it got rubbed down the more we found there was a lot to do. In the end the whole clip had to have nearly as much done as the rear.
This should be getting painted this week and that should be the paint finished. Loads of room to work on the front with it off which is nice.

Got all the switches at long last from America so the dash is now finished, just off to the sparky to wire everything up and fit a couple of multi plugs. Went to take some pics of it finished sitting in the car but the camera decided to go flat and as it was 4:30AM decided to go home to bed.

We have also decided not to bother with door check straps and go for a rubber door stopper that mounts to the tub so the back edge of the door will hit that and not open any further. Same principal as a strap but a different way of doing it and neater.

We also found this lovely example sitting out side on morning. Ive got a soft spot for one of these.

Looks like an interesting job, I've always fancied getting into a little project like this but i don't have the time - although threads like this do whet my appetite

Sorry for the lack of updates, Ive been doing 15 hour days 7 days a week and father has been on holiday for a few weeks.

Things have been going kind of slow for a bit. Father is getting really down as she should of been on the road on the 1st April and the job list doesn't seam to be getting any smaller.
The sparky is dragging his heels a bit, he has had the dash for over a month to wire up and he still has the rest of the cars loom to sort out.
Car is now all painted but still needs flatted and polished, that will be the last job to be done.

We have now decided to put braided brake hoses though out the car so that's another job on the list. The front had some really horrible looking brake pipes so with the braided hoses now on its much neater. I also made a complete new bracket for the clutch and brakes reservoirs.

ALSO......we are wanting to fit a full plumbed in fire extinguisher system to the car after hearing about a GT40 in America catching fire.
The rear turrets have now been fitted and pins fitted. I must say it does look the mutts nuts lol.

I finaly managed to persuade father to get some fixing eyes for the front and rear clip straps.

Also Father decided to replace the gearbox mounting rubbers as they looked a bit past it.

Have also replaced all the drive shaft bolts as we found some just kept coming loose so yet another job on the list.
Father plucked up the courage to cut and drill one of the new door windows which went quite well in the end, just got the other to do and flaps to fit.
Got the steering column back from the machine shop to find it was the wrong size, so back that went for a second time. Got it back a week later to find we had more steering lock from one side to the other so decided to send the rack away to get refurbished. We then found out the rack is off a MK1 escort!

That's about it really.

A wee update for you all.

Got the Steering Rack back to find most of it had been replaced, (track rods, drum sticks, rack and pinion). Looks nice and shiny as well so looking forward to getting this fitted.

Got the doors built back up and removed the horrible door handles to put back how the should be. Originally they had a cable which you pulled to open the door. works a treat after a little fettling.

I also got a nice surprise when I took the cover off the car to find these.

Also took these while I had the camera.

Father had a busy weekend and got all the brake and clutch lines made up and fitted, he just has the pipes from the reservoirs to make up and fit. He also made a neat little guard for the rear brake union at the rear of the car.

The sparky should be coming on Tuesday with the dash all wired up so the dash should be going in for the last time thank god.

Here are some pics my father took.
