My classic STi RA refresh/track project
Well here I go again with yet another Scoob! No doubt spend endless hours and cash getting to how I want it then end up flogging it! Ha!.
Anyway, the project has started, it's only going to be a weekend nice weather toy but am aiming to make it a good looking classic which is clean enough to show but also has the go and handling to use and enter some of this years events, trackdays etc.
So bought the car just before Christmas for a very reasonable price, needed some tlc and a clutch but that was all part of the plan. It's a my95 WRX STi Type RA. The good points where that it already had some good base mods, these included;
Whiteline Anti Lift Kit
Front & Rear Strut Braces
6 point roll cage with map lights
17" Rota Wheels
Chassis H Brace
Plus usual RA goodies such as roof vent, dccd, close ratio box, alloy panels etc etc.
Here she is when I 1st got it...
As my personal priority was it's looks, that's where I started...
1st job was to remove the tatty old bumper and those hideous lights!...
Then onto the stripping and prepping of the rest of the car...
Started tweaking the front panel for the front mount...
Intercooler test mounted...
Then started to trim the new facelift bumper...
Alot more trimming later...
Next job was to change the exhaust system, on went a fully decatted blitz 3" system...
Gave it a quick wash whilst it was outside...
Few pics of the ever increasing parts list...
Ap racing 6 pots with 380m disc, huge!...
Hks hypermax fully adj coilovers...
Huge air filter trial fitted...
Sti v6 fog covers painted and decals added...
Next job, the awesome ABW arches, many thanks to Darren!...
Trial fitted and marked out...
That's it so far..., next job starting to strip even more ready for a full paint.

Same colour, nothing silly, being done by same guy who does all my paint and luckly just in the unit behind mine.
No spacers, have a set of 18x8 et11 team dynamic pro race on order, so they should fill out the arches quite nice!

Not sure re turbo as yet, means converting to front entry really and that means even mire money and time, will see what I have left of both! Ha. For now will just be some larger injectors and a remap. That should keep me happy for at least a month! Ha.

Another Saturday mornings graft later and managed to drill and cut out the arches, scary work but all went ok I hope...
Fronts...
Rears...
The metal is was left with afterwards shows just how much has been trimmed...
Re trial fitted the front wide arches, gives a glimpse of how wide it is gonna be...
Then onto the boring parts, stripping all the black trim etc ready for it to go into the paint shop...
Coming on slowly now, just looks a sorry for itself at the minute...

Seems a bit of a shame doing that to a rare impreza imo, would have been nice to see that saved by removing the lights etc and minting it completely. Chopping the original panels up for bolt on arches
Great cars, i loved my old one and spent ages trying to find a nice example.
Are 8x18's are going to fill the arches? Or are you going for a low offset?
Good luck with it.

Nice, did you have fun fitting them too, 1st time I have ever taken a grinder to a cars body work before so was a bit nervous!
I was going to use spacers too, however decided against and went for the ridiculous low et11 to fill the arches out.

Some further progress today...
Air filter re trial fitted with new silcon reducer inlet and powder coated alloy t peice...
Riv nuts installed in arches....
All exterior trim removed including handles etc ready for prepping for re spray...
On to the interior, centre console and stereo removed...
Seats out...
Trail fitted the new seats using the sti standard runners, not a direct and dont want to mess out fabricating, so need to source some subframes, seats looked good though...
Started to fabricate a centre console panel that will eventually house the turbo timer, gauges and battery cut off switch...
Bent it to shape to fit the profile of the centre console...
Quite a nice fit....
Next job is a home made DTM style front splitter for the P1 lip, not enough hours in the day! ha.
