This is a thread about my car that has gone from being a dailydriver to fully built racecar.
I do everything by my self (except the welding) and I don't do this for a living it's just a hobby. (I'm an explosive engineer)

It's also a warning how things can end up if you get mod-addicted. . .

The car started as a 2003 STi V8. This is the former car of Petter Solberg that he had as "company" car the year he become WRC champion.

I bought this car in january 2006, and had it for an hour or so before I turned in into the local EcuTek tuner and but on a new exhaust and did a remap.
This was done to make the car more drivable.

This winter I used the car for a lot of Trackday on ice and when the summer came it went to Trackdays on tarmac.
I had about 1500 - 2000 miles on different tracks this summer until this happend the 29 of july 2006.

Early in the mornig when everything was great:



A litle later on the day I lost my brakes and this happend:





I was able to fix the car in 4 weeks and went to the next big trackday event.


But since the airbags was so expensive to buy new, I made a desission and ordered a full weld in WRC spec rollcage form Custom Cages in the UK.
This I have fitted after the end of the 2006 season.



I also had a lot of suspension work done, new brake lines, rotated turbo mount etc. done this winter and the car was ready to the trackday events started up again in April 2007.

The 2007 season went on with much different chassie testing. I think I had the car in for about 10 different wheel alignments and tryed 5 sets of springs with different springrates to find the setup that was best for my driving style.
I used a Chiel Bos coilover kit at this time.

After this season I got the chassie to behave the way I wanted and now has the time come for some more power.

So in October 2007 I ordered a Cosworth longblock with billet crank, APS TSR70 turbo kit, APS DR525 FMIC, APS header +++

I put this into my car just before christmas 2007 and we had this on the dyno on new years evening so I knew everything was safe and I could start to break it in.

I drove about 1000 miles on the road for break in and then it was time for some ice trackdays again.




This winter I used a few hundred gallons of gas on different ice trackdays, before I had this accident. I hit a hole in the ice going side ways in 4 gear.

And this was the result of this hole:



Luckely it was the damper that broke into 2 pieces if this hadn't happend I think I will have rolled over and made much more damage to the car.

In 2008 it started a new racing serie here in Norway and my car classified into this serie, so now it was the time to start competing.

I have never been into any racing, but in the first race I finiched 2 in my class and 5 overall (among 27 cars) so I was pretty happy for this.

The rest of the season was bad.
I had top 5 qualifing times in the most races, but had one broken gearbox, one engine brakedown (injector failure), exhaust manifold that cracked several times. So I didn't finish any more races this season.

But the car has proven it's potential so this is where I am right now, making a total rebuild of the car.

I will thank Brett Moncur at Celtic Motorsport (former Harman Motive) for great service and helping me to source parts I need. I have bought all my Cosworth parts of him.

I had a little time in he garage today and mounted a few things:



I have to much to do on my regulare job, so things are moving a litle bit slower than I wish. :furious:

If there is anybody who knows anybody who can suply me with a dry sump system now, please let me know!

I have bougt parts from them for a few tousand quid and I have got very good service when I've been bying stuff from them, but when I've asked about their dry sump system on the Gobstopper I haven't got any answers...

No, this car will NOT go into Gatebil. I'm not a fan about how they do things at their meetings, I think things are way out of control there and think they have been lucky that not have had any serius accidents yet.

I will use the car for some circuit racing, hill climbs, and other trackdays than Gatebil.
If I get everything sortet out and have the time for it maybe I will go to UK and drive a Time Attack round there.

Cosworth had promised my their new system for about 3 weeks ago, but now they can't tell me when I can get it.

I've been in touch with Tony Rigoli performance in Australia and maybe they will be able to help me out.

UPDATE 16.03.2009

It has been some days since last update, but I've done some work and forgotten to take pictures...

I've disassambled the engine and passed the block to the machine shop to get a new bore/hone.

I've started drawing of the new wiring system. (lots of time consuming work when I've never done it before)

Excellent project mate, liking the attention to detail.

Good choice of exhaust manifold too, Neil made me a stainless one for my last car to suit a std position turbo, got to be one of the nicest pieces of fabrication i've ever seen.

Im interested, in one of the first "repaired" pics, there is a bit cut out of the right hand front wheel arch in the engine bay, that is then reshaped.. what's this for? thanks

Finally some parts I've been waiting for quite long now has arrived:



I've tryed to order the Cosworth drysump, buth they couldn't deliver so I asked Tony Rigoli in Australia instead and they made a kit for me in 3 weeks.

Maybe I can get some more work done on my engine this weekend and put it in the car next week.

I've done some small things this weekend as well, so it's slowly moving forward...

Relay's/fuses to fuelpumps, oilpump and coolingfans in the rear:

This parts should have been blasted and painted as well, but the time is running out.

If I should have any chanse to get the car race ready by the end of April I have to take a shortcut now and paint this things after the season.
