To help fund the new project, I will be returning the road car back to standard, some parts will be used on the new car, such as the Lateral FMIC/RAD, Brakes, Gearbox, Turbo, as yet I have not made my mind up about the suspension as yet, will post closer to the day when all is finalised.

Top mount now back on the car, just collected a standard radiator with twin fans, so will be changing that over in the next couple of days, see your car is not so standard anymore, been a very busy man of late.

Custom cages Gpn N full multipoint t45 weld in cage, and installed by two fabricators from Prodrive with a few inovations developed by the said company, warning there is a serious amount of work involved.

Hi Kev,
One of the best privately prepared shells in the uk, Rob spared no expense and the boys who did the installation/welding spared no attention to detail, they all must be congratulated on the finished product.
Regards, John

Here we go then, looking for some feedback from the race/rally car builders out there with regards to what type of suspension best suits this type of build, the car will be used for track days, the odd hillclimb, SSO, but ultimately a return to the Nordschliefe.

CDB or SCDB
Does anyone out there have any pic`s showing the difference between a closed deck block and a semi closed deck block, would like to understand more about what I would be looking at.
Found plenty info on CDB but very little info on the SCDB, any known technical deficiencies would be of advantage as well.
Regards, John
Happy New Year to all out there, hope you get as much pleasure reading this thread, as I will building this car.

One set of pics from Nasioc showing EJ207/257 semi closed deck blocks:
Semi closed deck EJ257 blocks are weak around where the bore supports have been machined to give clearance to the block bolts within the water jacket. They also have very thin steel liners

John - looks good mate - the car looks like mine did a year ago - but a lot can happen in 12 months
Suspension wise, I would consider Exe-tcs - you get what you pay for when it comes to suspension
Engine wise - what are you looking to achieve - not just figures related. If you like the high-revving nature (suited to the track) then a 2 litre semi closed deck block could be the way to go - using STI9 crank and uprated rods/ pistons - always use ACL RACE bearings. This along with an MD321T turbo will give you a ballistic 450bhp on road fuel and over 500 on race fuel for the events (SSO, etc). This is how I ran mine for 2 years and was great fun
