WRX Engine & Running Gear Into MK6 Escort- Advice Needed!
This may sound like a bit of an odd one, but I'm about to start transplanting the engine and running gear from an Impreza WRX in my Escort and could use some advice.
I'm on the verge of buying a 1995 Import WRX Wagon as the initial donor car. This I can basically cut up as much as I like and use any parts I want.
The aim of the project is to reach a reliable and usable 400BHP
Initially, I want to use all the standard parts inc. engine and gearbox from the donor car to make sure everything fits and works nicely, but then I'd probably transplant another engine and gearbox in later.
Option 1 would be a 2.0 STi engine, convert to a 2.5 bottom end and Type RA gearbox
Option 2 would be just to straight in with a 2.5 STi 10 engine and 6 speed gearbox
All I really wanted to know is how straightforward it is to drop a 2.5 STi engine into a an earlier (effectively an MY95) WRX? As that is what the car will essentially be underneath the bodywork
Or how straightforward it would be to do a 2.5 bottom end conversion?
And which of the 2 options would be best for tuneabilty/reliability
I'm sure there must be plenty of people on here who have done such modifications to their Imprezas
Any advice would be much appreciated
