94 wrx Into 2000 p1 shell
Hi everyone new to scoobynet, and need a bit of advice i own a 1994 wrx and ive just managed to get hold of a bargain 2000 p1 shell complete with doors , glass and trims etc. Im planning on swapping everything off the wrx into the 2 door shell making myself a very cheap 2 door car! Has anyone done this conversion before and does anyone know of any problems i may find once i start ie what fits and what doesnt???
Thanks Gaz.

Shell is cat d stolen recovered.
Was stolen and found stripped in a barn from what im told, it was bought direct from a salvage auction! It still has quite a few parts from original on it! Carpet, trims, dash, wiring loom, windows etc etc! I value the Wrx at about 3k do you think i could find all the parts i need in this budget???

Your 94wrx engine is not ideal for the p1. For starters even if you kept the short block you will need v5 heads & the rest of the v5 ancillaries. The rest of your stuff from the wrx can bolt across ie subframes, suspension, rear diff & gearbox etc.
Its just the engine that will cause problems due to the different wiring looms /ecu etc.
So it may work out to be more hassle.
I suppose you could by a my99/00 uk car complete & swap the parts across. They seem to be going cheap nowadays.
Or try to source the parts from 1 supplier/breaker. That way you may get a better deal on the parts.
A complete v5 sti engine with turbo, loom & ecu can be had for around 2k & under.
A v5 uk engine might work out cheaper?
Gearboxes start from about £250-£600 & upwards depending which model you go for.
Rear diff £60 -£300
Pattern steel bonnet around £150 no vents & scoop
faceift grill about £45 & upwards
headlights £100 - £150 (ebay)
front bumper £100
rear bumper £80.
Boot?
spoiler?
suspension?
etc
The list goes on depending what lefts on the car.
No harm in calling the breakers to see what deal they can do for you.
japperformanceparts
grade a subaru
hdc.
Or look for a cheap uk donor car.

I took on a similar project to this about 12 months ago.
I alreay had a 94 wrx and i managed to get hold of a 97 typr r 2dr shell. Everything swapped over without 2 many problems although i did have to change the whole wiring loom Looking back it was alot of work just 2 gain a car with 2 doors less but i guess i learnt how the car went together!!!

Nearly finished!!!
Decided to go ahead with the swap and after almost 3 months im nearly there! The car looks amazing painted the complete car whilst stripped, engine bay inner wheel arches etc etc all 555 rally blue!Full facelift front end, Sti 6 spoiler, Bought 18" Inovit Tarmacs, along with some tein coilovers to get it sat right! I decided to go for the sti type r look ratehr than p1 replica and have added Sti v5 seats and door cards, along with original type r vinyl to the r quarters and bootlid. Just finished work on the engine and is now installed! Done parralel fuel rails, autobahn88 fmic, Td05 20g, fse fpr,440 injectors and removed allsorts that was no longer needed, Apexi power fc arrived thursday, now fitted and up and running!
All i have left to do is: New windscreen
Door trims and rubbers fitting
Mapping By good old Jolly green monster
And some brakes of course!!!!
Gonna get some pics posted later this week of the full transformation and fingers crossed should be seeing a road near u soon!!

Well done mate. Loads of people tried telling me not to bother doing the same swap but I just carried on. I also found it the best way to understand how everything goes together on the car.

All you need to do
I think you'll find that what's actually needed a whole side panel, from the B pillar back Micky along with the matching inner skin too, otherwise you'd never get the rear windows to fit
