Default Legacy STi swap

i came accross and STi engine and Trans. I also came across an early 90's Legacy sedan. The legacy is an auto, i want to put the STi engine in the legacy. How much Fabrication, if any, is there going to be involved in this project. I plan on swapping both the engine and trans so it will be converted from auto to manual. Just wondering what kind of challenge this will be. I plan on doing this swap reguardless so please dont discourage me too much. Any help is appriciated. basically i want to know if this is going to be a bolt in or a very tough project. Thank you.

As far as I know the Legacy auto and manual shells were the same, so as far as the clutch goes it should just be a case of sourcing the bits, try Grade A

You didn't say whether the new box was a 5 or a 6 speeder? There is a fiar amount of work involved in making the 6 speed fit a Legacy or Classic, but nothing insurmountable

Is it this model Legacy?

If so keep us appraised of how you get on

In theory, none, it should just bolt in, using the same engine and gearbox mounts

I'm not so sure, others, on here and elsewhere, are of the opinion that the 6 speed casing will not physically fit within a Classic, and therefore a Legacy (same floor), transmission tunnel

Not having done the conversion myself, I cannot say for sure either way

But don't let that stop you trying STi07, just keep us updated with photographs as you go

The 6 speed fits in a classic Impreza without any problem, direct bolt in job (I've done it)...just needs the right length prop from the Sti donor, or an auto funnily enough.
