Question Putting a 2.2T in a 96' outback?

Here is the backgroud. I had a 91 legacy turbo. I kept the engine, downpipe, and a few other things from that car, all in storage and got rid of the body and bad tranny. Reciently our 96' outback, extra car, blew a head gasket. It has a reciently rebuilt transmission on it and the body/interior are in great shape.

Is it possible to drop the 2.2T in place of the 2.5? Would the transmission work with it, etc. Basically is this an achievable project to be done with out going insane? And if so, where can I find the information (parts if needed) to do this?
