Default wastegate splitter and screamer pipe.

After hearing several R 32 gtr`s with the externall wastegate and screamer pipe set up i fell in love with the whole screamer pipe sound and decided i had to have it.

I started of looking into new turbo`s and externall wastegates i found it was going to cost big big bucks as a whole new turbo was needed plus uppipe the wastegate ect ect so i began looking into getting it with what i had, Iv got an HKS closed neck down pipe on the car so i came up with the idea of drilling a 32mm hole in the down pipe flange over where the wastgate is on the turbo, i then welded a 3mm steel curved plate onto the down pipe flange to seperate the main exuast outlet and the wastegate outlet when the dp was bolted to the turbo, took a lot of fileing down to get a nice fit an ensure it was a good seel.

When all the drilling and fileing was complete i made a piece of stainless pipe bent up and welded into the 32mm hole so when the wastegate opened the gasses would be vented to atmosphere.

The end result i think is awsome my tdo5 now seems to spool up a bit quicker and when i hit ful boost i get an absolutly awsome external wastegate sound.

The dp flange with welded in splitter and wastegate dump hole.

The screamer pipe bent up to vent just out the side of the car.

Yes mate all was checked by blueing the parts bolting together then removing an dremmeling lol, i had to open the hole in the dp quite a bit as the wastegate penny was at first getting wedged in there but managed to sort it.

very much so, i'm thinking a set of bespoke headers and up-pipe, and a bespoke inlet manifold may be next on the list given to him lol

What is the benefit of running the screamer pipe and what sound difference is there from your standard exhaust note?

Hello mate, not really much of a benefit, turbo seems to spool up a tad quicker but thats it, i mainly done it for the sound, its hard to hear it on the posted vid as was taken with my phone, but it does sound awsome, the only way i can describe it is it sounds like a jet engine when it comes on boost lol.

Any chance of a better video? Am thinking about doing this myself, using a valve so I can enable / disable it on demand. That way my car can be tuned properly too

Sorry mate I sold this years ago.

I searched for weeks for something like this before I made it up, there was nothing on the market at all, but I did notice a while after this thread that companies were making them, maybe I should of patented the idea
I like the idea of calling myself an innovator
