A M8 in the usa has said he can get me a full engine for £700 + shipping
good or bad

10% Import Duty and Vat too.

Do a search on the forums for 2.5 Litre Conversion there is a massive run down on these.

Not as cheap as you think.

Neil, look in the Group Buys section. I got mine last summer - stock US 2.5l STi short motor - and it's now running-in. Bags of torque

You'll be doing very well to get one for less than £1,400 today, inc all taxes and delivery. Then a bit more for gaskets.

Although the motor drops straight in, there are a few essential mods to make it go properly, depending on your car. Probably a bigger turbo, injectors and re-mapping.
