My advice: don't do it. Do a search, and you'll see why. A 25 quid FMIC off a truck could turn into a little bit more money

Wink

And a brand new delivered to your door FMIC can now be had for £335. Is it really worth the messing for that. See the second Hybrid FMIC group buy in drivetrain for more info

Thumbs up

Being as how my first target for power is (only )280 bhp, Ive decided to stick (certainly for now) with TMIC, but uprated to the Sti i/c with Samco hoses.
as and when the need dictates, I will re-evaluate.
cheers for the advice.

Why bother, as Tone Loc suggests, go for the Hybrid FMIC at 2-3x as much as a second hand TMIC but it ain't limited to 300 bhp. The Hybrid FMIC is an awesome bit of kit for the money. Look at the pictures on Harvey's website.

Would you buy a gold plated spade to dig the garden ?

Peanuts... i've got a MY98 intercooler (UK) with full set of samco hoses if you want to stick to TMIC.
