Thought I might share this little beauty with you all, current plans are to put a 2 litre pinto lump in there and do some trackdays.I hope to collect the donor car(2.0s Capri next saturday)which I have been given free of charge, thanks Nelly .

Amazingly its still got the original arches and has not had any welding done at all to it,just some idiot has messed with the bodywork .

I have the RS2000 sump and hope to collect the RS2K bellhousing on monday so with a bit of luck it might be running by Sunday next week. Will try to keep you all updated if theres enough interest.

<jeaslous>

I fancy another Escort, had a 1600 Sport

Tell me you're gonna put round headlamps on it, please! I fancy doing the full job, tarmac arches, 5 link, etc etc and most importantly, 4 big **** off spot lamps I just don't have the funds or anywhere to do it

Dont worry Bob the headlights are coming out, just need to find some and the appropriate grill and then they are gone.
I was looking at doing the works on it,Cossie turbo, four link and the arches etc but after talking to one well known Mark 2 Escort owner who posts on here and finding out how much he has spent on his made me think twice.I used to own a Droopsnoot RS2000 many years ago which I restored and then sold(kicking myself now)and I just cant get them out of my system call it reliving my youth LOL.This will be my fourth Mark 2 now but the first that will really be a toy
Yeah I know the score on the mounts and the trans tunnel, just waiting for my 5 speed box to turn up and the gearbox lowering blocks then off we go but I think its now going to be a couple of weekends away now .

Still I will keep you all posted

Cheers

My grill had a small coming together with my foot I seem to remember getting a pattern one to replace it from my local factors, I think Hadrian panels make them

Hi Steve..

These are seriously good fun for Hillclimbing and non pro rallying... you can have a lot of fun with these

Got a friend who has a 260bhp mark 2 escort he uses for rallying. Had to put a dog box on it as gearboxes blown to buggery with that sort of power but provided it can get grip it will blow any scooby away.

... and seeing is believing

you got a lot of work to do before it gets to that stage though but they can be worth serious money.

Thanks for the links Huxley, not done anything to the motor this week after all except buy bits for it .
Managed to get a load of secondhand bits on wednesday,so I now have all the bits required to fit the engine but no gearbox yet.
Picked up a black interior, round headlights and grill,RS engine mounts and a set of RS2K clocks for 110 quid.Should have the twin webers and manifold by the end of the week as well .

I have decided to remove the engine completely and get the engine bay refurbed first then get it mobile so all being well I will pull the lump on saturday now instead.Just need to find another panel beater/painter as I have been let down by the one I was going to use

Never mind its all part of the fun isnt it

Steve

How's this going Steve.....I've done 3 of these conversions myself a few years ago!! IIRC the fuel lines and alternator wiring have to be moved over to the opposite side of the engine bay and the rad top plate needs chopping out. On two of them i retained the std four speed gearbox, but did fit a five speed Sierra 'box to my own one.
Still have a 2.2 Pinto o-ringed block, which was an RS500 type. Also got a few other bits still lying around, like a custom made exhaust manifold for the Cosworth 16-valve head!!
Mail me at bitob@hotmail.com if interested m8.
Cheers

Hi Bito,

Long time no speak .Its all hit a bit of a standstill at the moment as I cant get someone to commit to painting the car,in fact I can t get someone to commit to coming round and looking at it to quote me to paint it.
It really is beginning to pee me off now.
I will be dropping you a mail very shortly about the bits you have for definite

Current state of play is that the whole front end is stripped from the screen forward and I am still stripping Ziebart off. When I close my eyes to sleep all I see is Ziebart hehe its doing my noodle in.
Going to order some bits from Gartrac this week even for the engine bay(GP4 top plates, bulkhead gussets and their crossmember bolt/tube kit) then I just have to fit them then I will really be at a standstill .

Other than that I have not had much time tbh as I have started doing work on Scoobs again on the weekends.

Have you still got your car?I seem to recall seeing it for sale on here did it sell?
