Not going to reverse it..
I am going to experiment with the old one...
David, what about the ISCV and the throttle body??
I recall something about there being no 'closed' switch on the STI throttle position switch??

How do the fuel rails differ between the two??

Newer throttle position sensor doesn't have an idle switch. SO either add a microswitch or bodge the original TPS onto the newer throttle body. The later might work, but I don't know if it goes in the same direction.

I take it you got the manifold from Colin?

I will have to look when i pick it up tomorrow..

I hope Colin doesnt tell you about everything i have bought off of him..

Is the ISCV teh same?? pipe work/ is not a problem as my current fitting is different, it just the wiring that worries me..

Colin doesn't tell me anything. I just know what he had lying around for sale, and it happened to match what you just bought!

But I can guess what else you have.

The voltages on the early and later (MY97-98) TPS go in different directions. I.e for one full throttle is just under 5V and on the other this would equate to closed throttle.

So is this a version 3/4 manifold your putting on a MY93.... be very interested to see the results.

Tony.

If that was the case it would be easy, i could just reverse the wires..
I am going to look at the install when i get back from colins with the manifold later..

It will be going on no matter what

Right then, i'm off to pick up my manifold spacers..
Should be picking up my digicam this afternoon so i will post some pics that can actually be seen properly

I shall hopefully be mounting the original throttle body onto the STI manifold minus the waterway. Mounting the Bracket for the throttle cable doesnt look like a problem..

Not really been out of the house yet so havent had time to compare them properly yet..

Anyone know the thickness of the actual manifold material??

Small update... This is more info than progress
I borrowed a throttle body from a 94 manifold to try on the later manifold..
Basically the ISCV on the later manifold fouls the linkages on the early throttle body so it is a no-go unless i use a spacer between the throttle body and the manifold.. A LARGE Spacer
So..
I am getting a small adapter made up that will fit onto the end of the throttle shaft and means that the early Throttle position sensor will fit AND WORK on the later throttle body..

It is a pretty simple adapter, i will post some pics when i pick it up on Friday..

Bit pricey though
Adapter is for TPS is ready just gonna go and pick it up, gaskets are sitting next to me now..
Whilst i am out i'm gonna pick the longer bolts up for the manifold, so all being well it should be on today..

Famous last words..

Right then, got the microswitch through from RS for the throttle closed signal, got all the wiring sorted and the switch positioning..
Just gotta make up a bracket to hold the switch in place..
Pics to come..
Thanks to Pavlo for some good advice

I think you no more than me Paul!!

If it wasnt for you some of my plans wouldnt have gone quite as smoothly..

really need to sort out a Proper digital camera before i post any more pics

So.. with pics to follow..

STI manifold fitted with STI phase one rails running 550cc injectors.
STI TPS rewired to incorperate Microswitch on throttle body for idle switch as the Later phase one does not have throttle closed switch in the TPS.
Power steering res relocated using an adapter on the pump, vauxhall cavalier res mounted where air con pump used to be.

Front entry currently using STI inlet pipe, custom 76mm inlet pipe needs another port on it.

Custom Breather system.

Bosch MEC723 coil packs to replace teh old STD coils using MY98 HT leads.

Water feed to Throttle body bypassed straight to ISCV.

Replaced one of the black rubber hoses on the DIY FMIC pipework with a samco so better flow due to bad angle on the old black pipe.
Heat wrapped FMIC pipes above turbo with first aid emergency blanket for now.

Rising rate fuel reg.
Walboro fuel pump.
Blitz BC for the time being.

Front entry TD06/05 hybrid turbo.
Lateral Performance up pipe (which is IMO one of the best i have used/seen).

Some other bits that i cant think of right now

Oh yeah.. and the mapping... important revelations to come on this i think

Rob

Any suggestions/comments??

No power figures because of some ******* on saturday

Boost undisclosed

David, how soon do you need the item?
