Default RA Stroker project

Hi,

I’ve not had an Impreza for about 9 years and a mate of mine had this for sale. So I thought I might as well get a project to play with while I’m not at work.

Im in the middle of stripping the engine as it was removing due to a top end noise. I’ve now discovered it has a scored can journal.

I’m just hoping the rest of the engine is ok.

Overall it’s all there but there is a dent or mark on nearly every panel.

So hopefully it is a 2.1 which I should be able to confirm later today, it has a GT3071 turbo and an Alcatek ecu. It should make a nice set up when it’s done.

All in I paid £5k for it which I’m now thinking was a bit much but you live and learn I guess.

I welcome all comments good or bad and look forward to speaking to you guys and maybe getting some info?

Cheers Mike

Camshaft caps on wrong and also looks like they’ve used some kind of stud extractor on the bolts 🤦‍♂️

What about rust? If it's just the motor then there's potential. But from what you've shown us so far of the motor, it looks like monkeys have been at work.
At least, doing it yourself, it's more viable to revive a classic. Fingers crossed!

Both rear arches have gone but it came with repair panels so that’s not too bad.

I’m hopefully going to get it up in the air a bit in the next couple of days so I can have a better look.

I won’t give up on it, if it needs be I will get it dipped and go from there.

Its good to know it is a 2.1 stroker, there are no oil squirters in the block. It looks to me they may have damaged a piston and come out during an oil change maybe?

That looks like a Wiseco piston, & one of Lateral Performance kits, going by LP1433, I might have an odd used piston for that, is it 92.5mm bore ?

The previous owner said it was but no evidence to prove. I measured the volume of the cylinders and it came to 2150cc.
