Did all the boring stuff like new disk and pads, full service etc.

Understeer was no no good for me.

I then slotted the struts for a lot more front camber, Added a Whiteline rear anti roll bar, Sticky tyres and got the alignment done with as little rear camber set as possible on stock arms. The stock shocks and springs are pink ones and very stiff. Feel very well damped so I’m gonna leave them for now.

Understeer was reduced massively.

Poly bushed the diff mounts and outriggers. Fitted a solid engine steady bar. Simplified the intake system.

Welded the rear diff. Yep. Chill out. It’s fine.

No pics of all this I’m afraid

Then moved onto the interior.

Stripped in and painted it blue, added buck seats, a rear cage and harnesses.

Had to build my my own short shifter as I couldn’t find one for the v1 classic.

Added a rear coolant temp gauge and boost gauge.

Cleaned up an few other bits and adjusted the pedals to suit heel toe better for myself.

*harnesses aren’t fitted in these pics

Then onto the livery. Now I realise this isn’t the correct blue and is a bit too dark. My company does do full vehicle wraps but the body work on this is very tatty although it is virtually rust free. Because of this I decided to apply the livery to the factory blue and the car will get abused. And judging from my previous track cars probably crashed too 😉

I’m a graphic designer so designed the full livery myself as I wasn’t happy with all the available kits and..well...I own a signs and graphics company ha

So that’s how it currently stands. First track day for this car will be November the 4th at Bedford as my girlfriend would like to learn to drive on track I thought it best we go to a track with a lot of run off.

Mechanically the car seems good but we shall see ha. I’m not holding my breath...

I’ve had a lot of cars with welded diffs so I know what to expect but yeah it’s not very nice for parking and slow manoeuvres. Years ago I had welded diffs in my daily drivers but I’m too old for that now ha.

it’s first track day is November the 4th so I’ll see how it is then.

but if you watch this
recent carfection video about the wrc impreza he says they actually ran a rear spool (completely locked diff) and the centre diff set to 50/50. I thought that was quite interesting and after some more internet research I believe he is actually correct.
so I’m sure it’ll be fine.

It doesn’t lift off over steer as much now which I’m a bit disappointed about. It does however do mental 4wd on the spot donuts ha. Haven’t had it fast enough in the road to really see how it’ll behave but I’ll know after the track day. i have a spare diff to replace it or build a lsd if I hate it.

The Volvo is my business partners car. It’s still a ways off but it’s got some pretty special suspension on it and we’ve just finished the forged engine for it so it should be a 80s monster once it’s done.

Lol, some organisers dont like "drifting".

Nice thread btw, i like what you've done with the car.

I notice you've mentioned running sticky tyres. Do you have any plans for, or have you considered oil migration issues? Subaru's are renowned for getting killed on long fast bends due to oil shifting from the oil pick up pipe...
