Default Project UK300 #296

Thought it was time I did one of these,

After the biggest regret of my life to date I had to sadly sell my beautiful Classic STi back in December 2013 and buy a more economically friendly car due to a 250mile round trip a week Just for work alone,

Well it was short lived and the need for another Subaru just got to much and that of my Daughter begging me to buy another,
so the 23 March 2014 I took the trip to Birmingham to look at a UK300 # 296 now all in all the car was in fantastic condition not a mark on the bodywork no signs of rust anywhere and a very well documented service history,

On the test drive I noticed a few things needed doing but worse bit was on the M5 on the way home the clutch was starting to slip
But once home started doing a few things I wanted so fitted the HID kit and removed the horrible chrome number plate surrounds

On the 25/03/2014 I fitted my new Dump valve as it had a crapy Baileys one,
And fitted my new Ninja 2 exhaust system

On April the first we fitted the new exeedy pink box clutch

04/04/2014

Bought and fitted some blobeye STi rear lights and also bought some rear spats

08/04/2014

Catastrophe engine let go on the way to work oil emptied everywhere through out the breathers couldn't believe it was so annoyed

19/05/2014

After taking the engine out and realising it would be easier and more cost effective to replace the engine rather than rebuild,
I bought an engine of the notorious Impreza parts before I herd all the Horror stories,
Safe to say I seriously learnt the hard way after weeks waiting the engine finally arrived but was far from what was the engine described in his advert,
What was supposed to be a 2004 engine with only 60k on the clock was so far from the truth,
It was indeed an early classic engine after many messages and him promising me it came out of a 2004 car I thought sod it I've got it here and if I sent it back the possibility of losing the money I had already paid I decided to go ahead and fit it,
And as our conclusion was proved it was that out of a classic,
So new Cambelt kit RCM water pump and new age cam sprocket was ordered and pulley and cam sensor removed from my old engine we fitted it

31/05/2014

Finally got the car home and gave the old girl a good wash and polish as she was
Looking sad from being stood up and covered in oil finger prints

01/06/2014

Treated the old girl to another new Exhaust system this time to a HKS Super Drager system

06/06/2014

Can't believe my luck after 6 days and 208 of carefully driven miles BANG engine let go again this time Big end bearings,
With this I'm Sick of it all the cars been off the rd more than it has on

08/06/2014

Got a very good friend to trailer the car back home for me this time instead of the car being parked up at my Brothers house while I decide what to do with it as at the time was seriously considering breaking it and scrapping the bloody car

25/06/2014

Started to strip down the scoob still unsure on what to do about it and sadly this is where she stayed until December

20/12/2014

After several months of looking out the window and sadly seeing the poor girl parked there I thought it was about time to re kindle the love so treated her to a full and deep clean also fitting a set of Hawkeye STi rear lights

17/01/2015

Enough is enough nearly £2000 down and a road trip to Ely Cambridgeshire I return home with a boot full of goodies for the old Girl

2005 Blobeye UK300 engine with 73k on the clock
Racing logic Coilovers
Blob UK300 steering wheel
Blob UK300 clocks
Prodrive 3 port boost solenoid
Fmic and pipe work
Walbro 255 fuel pump
De cat up pipe
STi pink Injectors

25/01/2015

Engine is back in not fully fitted but she's in and the old wheels are off ready to be stripped down ready for refurbishment

01/02/2015

Started painting Fmic and pipe work
Also bought a TD05 18g Turbo the difference in size is amazing against the Old TD04

22/02/2015

Final fitment of everything engine bolted up,
Up pipe wrapped down pipe wrapped new gaskets fitted new exhaust system again Blitz Nur Spec R but sadly she didn't fire up due to me not realising that I forgot that it needed a FPR

01/03/2015

It moves

07/03/2015

Get my wheels back from the powder coaters and started the plan to fit the Fmic

21/03/2015

Fitted Coilovers set Height fitted wheels and gave up on fitting the Fmic and decided to get a STI top mount instead now,
Things left todo are paint and Fit Brembo front brakes
Fit the FPR and plumb everything up
Buy and fit STI top mount

Then it's MOT Re Tax and Save up for the all important Re Map which will probably be in mid May as April is going to be an expensive month for me

This is how she looks at the moment
