Classic type RA - light and relatively cheap. Also, closed deck block and short ratio box should be worth a few quid to sell on before you build a good spec engine and uprate the box.

I would start with something newer, classic cars are a good base for weight saving but i think its time people moved on, newage ftw

Yea great cars, all depends on budget but try find a twin scroll with Dccd and then you half way there.
Also far better chassis but if you was to fully weld in cage makes no difference then. Classic will still be far lighter.
What power you aiming for?

Not thinking of power yet mate, first safety, handling, then power but all planned out b4 the build if you know what I mean.

I know nothing of the Subarus, race and rally background, should be racing in btcc next year so this is more of a fun project for me.

hence why I asked for help... there are so manny variations of car I have no idea what to go for... its going to be made wider, and all that.

I think your choice of what impreza would be based on budget for the time attack build..

Even Club has some serious spec cars...

I'd try pick something up with a lot of bits that you don't need but can sell on to help fund..

I'd possibly use a bug sti since it already has the 6 speed box and decent heads..

Yes I agree, the cool down light is way over priced for what it is!

Go one up then and get a blob..

Classic light yes but the amount you would need to change is crazy..

Cutting it fine to be ready by April???

I got years to perfect the car mate, just need to find out whats allowed in the regs. if there are any.

I know I want paddle shift with full upshift and down shift... wider track, good gage bit like the NGTC cars. seat back and mutch as posable. then I will sort power out.
