First Subaru Blobeye
Morning all, I have been converted from german to jap lol
My first 'Proper' car was a VW Bora that was converted to a 1.8t and I spent an absolute fortune on it tuning wise and had alot of work done by Nick @ R-Tech. Then I bought a BMW e90 but it was a dirty diesel so didnt last long.
Now I have my Scooby, its a wrx blobeye. I didnt pay alot for it tbh. It had 55k genuine miles and already had a few little upgrades such as prodrive centre section and rear back box, forge DV, turbo timer, prodrive boost pipes, sti spoiler and front bumper etc. It has been remapped previously as its boosting a nice healthy 1.3bar.
This is how I received the car -
To be honest it looked ****e, but I always put my stamp on my cars so keep checking in on my progress lol
The wheels are going, the suspension is going, the tubro is being replaced and much much more

The first thing I bought was Tein Coilovers which replaced the pro-drive springs fitted.
A nice cost of over £800!! Gosh VW's are alot cheaper to buy parts for lmao

I didnt get any decent pictures of the car when they were fitted but the same week I plasti-dipped the scooby matte black. This wont be to everyones taste but I am not the type of person to be the same as everyone else.
The ride is low but its MUCH better handling wise. The wheels I hated, looks much better but I still wanted to change them once I made my mind up on what I wanted... but within a few weeks of owning the car its getting somewhere lol

As you already know next on the list was wheels, I went with genuine Rota Grids from Driftworks.
The wheels cost shy of £900 with next day delivery. I left it a few days with no sign of the alloys, after a phone call they confirmed the colour I wanted were out of stock (website wasnt upto date) but Bronze were available. So instead of a refund I went with Bronze. Not the best service but atleast these arrive the following day.....
Next were tyres!!!

At this point I enjoyed it for a few weeks and done some research on engine mods.
So at the moment it's running arounf 270-280bhp so I have been told but who cares I wanted more!!
After looking around the car I noticed this had 3 cats!! so obviously these are robbing me of power. I found a down pipe decat on ebay, he lived 10 miles away and I won the auction for £30 haha this replaced the two cats. Happy days.
Its a 3 inch going in to 2 1/2 inch open mouth downpipe aswell, so well pleased.

The same weekend I went to collect the down pipe I had a Sunday free so thought give it a go and fit it.
To be fair these cars are easy to work on compared to the VW's. It took me about an hour and half on my own singing and dancing to real radio lol
Since fitting the down pipe, I can hear the turbo ALOT more and there is a noticeable power difference. Quicker spooling I guess.
Ignore the silly sticker this is'nt on the car anymore. I seem to get pulled on a weekly basis in this but atleast I know its safe if someone steals it

Down pipe sorted.
Right next on the list was what Turbo do I want?
Well I have come to a decision that I would be happy (for the time being) with around 330bhp. I wanted a fast road car that was reliable and to be honest I am not a pub talker who likes to say my car is xxxxxbhp.
Aslong as it drives nice and puts a smile on my face who cars.
I went with a TD05 16g front entry. So hopefully good for upto 330bhp.
Next on the list is fuel pump, Sti pink injectors, 3 port boost solenoid, Sti intercooler and possibly a decat up-pipe. Then its a remap :-)

whoa, nice car, i really like what you have done.
you should de-tango the front lights and paint the inserts black at the same time.
currently the lights just brighten up to front a lot, would look a bit more shady
oh, and I think a front splitter would not harm it either, but just my opinion.

Thanks buddy, I have seen a few de-tangoed headlights. I did the same on my old Bora and it does make a difference. When I have free time I will consider it :-)

They do set the car off really well.
They are 18's and only 8.5's wide. I had them from driftworks but to be honest I wish I went for 9.5s now.
I only went with brand new ones as I am sick to death buying second hand wheels which are slightly buckled etc not many people out there are honest no more :-(

I am by far not a turbo yoda, but I seem to think that that up pipe is utter rubbish from what I have read. you should rather get a single piece up pipe, not this flex connected one.
regarding the turbo, I think you should go at least 18g if not 20g.

Really? I have read different and after speaking to several people any decat up-pipe is better than the standard 'Catted' one.
After a quick google I have read this and this also suggests a solid or flex'd up-pipe are pretty much on par with each other?

As for the turbo, this is a tricky one for me. I wanted a turbo which could be rebuilt if needed and cheap to be honest (I only paid £130 for it lol but its in good order no play in the shafts or leaks etc). My aim for this car is around 320-330bhp anything more is a bonus.
An 18g or 20g sounds awesome but from what I have "read" and understood the wrx 5-speed running gear is on borrowed time after 350bhp.
Who knows once its been mapped I may buy a bigger turbo. Il have everything in place to acheive over 350bhp apart from the snail anyway. Il just have to save for a 6 speed converstion from the Sti alonmg with a good flywheel/clutch kit.

Oh, it's a wrx... you never mentioned that. from the looks of it, it looks like an sti, but then again, I do not own an sti. only thing not genuine is the scoop and I did not really notice the calipers.
people might shoot me, but for the turbo, buy the billet wheel and housing off ebay, 20g - will cost you 80 quid and then send it off for balancing, ofc, rebuilding it first.
I have read that people have had very good results with those, as they actually are billet and the cartridge stays the proper one.
anyhow, nice job!

Alright Matt, the wheels that came with the car were innovit 18" speedlines I think. Personally I didnt like them, I prefer the rota grids.
The black on black did look good mind.

That's most likely not a genuine TD05 16g. Genuine ones usually have the compressor housing modified to FE, and that's not the correct housing.

Your right mate this isn't a genuine unit it's a copy part but it made over 340bhp on my mates bug eye. He wrote his car off so I took this off him. It only cost £130 so we will see what I can do with it.
If it goes bang then il go 18g genuine :-)

Hello mate I plasti dip in my spare time so not a lot.
The car is fitte with an up pipe decat already haha so not needed anyway.
A quick update the td05 is fitted but I found out the coolant lines did not fit as the banjo needed is m14 not m12. Iv blocked off the coolant lines for now but ordered them ready. Tomorrow the fuel pump, sti top mount and boost reg will be fitted.
