maybe it would help to post a few pics, also the price you are asking seems very high esp in the current climate

 

ive seen a few go for 10k with under 20,000 miles

 

this climate only affects people with no money! who are trying to buy something they can't really afford i did my home work on the price its alittle high i agree but the condition of the car reflects price i reckon they will go up after xmas as for the pics not sure how to get them on here any serious buyers will ask for them ??

 

I am willing to bet they will go down further...

No, unfortunately it also affects the people who are trying to sell stuff to them. Why do you think there are companies going under every day?! Also factor in that the entire car industry (like most other industries) is on it's **** so you're effectively competing with all those car dealers desparately trying to get rid of stock.

Another factor people are considering buying a post 2001 car is if Gordon Brown is intending on shafting us by re-introducing the higher road tax bands next year. Nice of him to clear that one up for us prospective car buyers....

I'm looking to buy an Sti at the moment and I'm afraid bloodshotsti is right about your price. Look at the prices for the ones that have actually sold and you'll see that your price is definitely on the high side. A quick look on autotrader, pistonheads or in the For Sale section here will back that up.

Take a look at this one for instance, 54 plate but 05 spec with only 18,000 miles and a few extra goodies:

That went for £10,000, maybe less.

It could be that your car is an absolute minter and is worth the extra but you're really going to have to try hard to make the case (pics will help). If you don't want to take the hit then keep the car and enjoy it! It sounds like you don't need to sell anyway.

As for the prices going back up, has that ever happened?

Good luck with the sale anyway, I hope you get what you want for it. If it helps I do know how you feel. I had a classic about 5 years ago that I bought for £15K. I needed to trade it in a year later and got £9K for it.

mattsti - i saw that one you've a link to. quality car. Im looking at the moment and that is the best ive seen so far, unfortunately it was sold when i saw it. I saw another, same spec with about 23,000 go for 10k on autotrader.

Prices are going to continue falling. I even think if you got one like that for 10k you wont be able to sell it for much more than 7 in a few months time. People just dont want them. I was offered 7.5k for my 330d in summer, now same place says they dont want it and cant offer more than 3k!!! haha i dont wanna trade it / sell it anyway so its ok. but so glad i didnt get a scooby in summer when that sort of spec was going for 16k.

gonna wait till i can get a complete steal at around the 9k mark. then it doesnt really matter what you lose on it as long as you keep it a few years.

 

This is a STI9 with low miles and claimed minter, so not that far off the mark IMO.

And thats coming from someone thats literally just sold a very well sorted STI8 with 46K miles for much, much less.

But would agree IMO things are only going to get worse especially it would seem for scoobs as the market seems to be saturated with them at the moment. Which is why I got out when I did, even though it was at a thumping great loss. But the loss would have been even greater if I waited till Jan/Feb IMO.

 

That was mine, went with the second call from autotrader website within 2 days ( i'd paid for 6 bl00dy weeks ), they came down the following morning ( 500 mile round trip ) and took it within minutes, not even a road test for 10k ! The car was mint and should have been about 13500 to 14 K with the mileage.
I think it's the car tax next year thats not helping, let alone the credit crunch and recession all over the place. The price got to be attractive to get the buyer out to look then if it's mint then it'll sell itself.

that one in the link might be whats classed as a 9 buts its the 8 shape with the 2.0 not a harkweye shape with 2.5. I think its up for the right money, put a link up of a cheaper harkeye shape and ill stand corrected. The 8 shape cars will only fetch 8 shape money even if they are called a "9".

 

i am assuming the 05 plate for sale is a harkeye shape though if not i agree its priced to high. Not 100% sure what reg the harkeye came out i know mine is an 06 harkeye so they were out on 06 for sure

 

That's a good point actually! Wouldn't an 05 car be an Sti 8 (i.e. "Blob Eye")? From what I've been able to gather (been doing some research lately!) the 2005 cars were the last of the Sti 8, gaining a DCCD and wider front track and different rear arches over the 2004 models.

I thought for a car to be an Sti 9 it had to be a 2006 onwards Hawk Eye with a 2.5 engine? Perhaps there are some 55 plate Sti 9's but an 05?

 

i think on the change over the early sti 9 is still the sti 8 shape with 2.0 or at least there advertised that way. To me a real sti 9 must be a harkeye with 2.5. Mine is a harkeye 06 reg and is up for £12995 but open to offers. I dont think theres many harkeye shape cars for sale cheap and £10000 would be a bargain, doubt you'd get one for that though

 

I had an 03 JDM - they were (and still are) the STI9s

 

im not saying it isnt a version 9, but its the blob eye shape and 2 litre. the blob eye 9's are made so that subaru could still enter the rally as you have got to use a 2 litre and these are import cars. hawkeye 9's with the 2.5 litre are the ( real ) uk version 9's unless its a parrelell import. ive dropped my price to £12500 for a type uk on 28500 miles. they are really cheap for what you get i think. still under warrenty too.

Seen a 2005 none ppp for 10,000 30,000 odd mile

a 2005 with PPP for 11,000ish same sort of miles

a WR1 2004 43,000 for 13,000

And a 2005 with a recent stage 2 kit from powerstation for 10,995

and a 2003 48,000 mile 7500

To be honest I am reluctant to part with any cash in case the prices drop's from 10000 to 7000 in a few months - I am not in a rush to buy as the scooby is probably going to be a toy which won't get used that much in the winter so waiting a few months to see what happens suits...definately a buyer market and not a good time to be selling...
