Pete - with the way you went on about this when you bought it, I thought it was at least going to be the XR version - just looks like a standard 'scort with the roof chopped off

Nice condition though

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah ok - Some of my own medicine!! Thank you for the 'Really Interesting' comments - NOT!!!! Keep 'em coming!!

Joking aside, REALLY!!, this is a GREAT car for messing about on a sunny day ..................... this will seem really sad, BUT, in the summer when I walked outside in the morning it was by choice that I walked past the Impreza and OPTED to get into the Cabriolet!!!!!!!!!!!?????????? am I mad? NO need for answers to that!!

The XR version was not as nice as this, the Ghia model. The handling is much more like a normal car in the Ghia - the XR is so rough in comparison ........... and you buy a Cabriolet to CRUISE not BRUISE !!!!!

I honestly cant believe the condition for a 15 year old car, I popped it up on the 4 post lift for a look see underneath in the summer - no rust whatsoever!! I was amazed!!

Anyway - I just posted to see if the picture worked ...... I never expected you lot to EVER appreciate class!!

It might be the 7" wheel trims that are puting people off - look slike it is hovering like the Luke Skywalker flying buggy thing in Star Wars.

£1200 doesnt get much these days - and as for something that will not lose any money, well, what can I say?

Good Luck Matey

pslewis, sorry but i think your price is a tad too high, considering the age and mileage.

I was looking at your car for my missus but i can get a newer mint XR3i cab for less money, i work in the car trade and ive been checking the guide and asking traders for an idea of what its worth and we all came up with £400 to £500 max.

SORRY! Andy.

I agree with pete - you cant get one of those for £500 not anywhere - I DO work in the trade!! and not as a cleaner either - plenty of rubbish out there ...... but that is still over £1k

its winter and a slow market but once spring hits you wont find them anywhere

£1200 is a weeks wages for fkcu sake - no pleasing some is there pete? paint the wheels a nancy gold and you may sell it better

Excuse me!? I have worked in the car trade for the past 2 years BUYING and SELLING cars, not the valeter.

And i will buy the £500 XR3i cab as it is better than your 99,000 mile 15 year old car anyway!

And as for the insurance, it was 2 days out of date, all as i can do is appoligise for making that MISTAKE and how sorry i am for not being as perfect as PSLEWIS (the car trader).

You make me

Try and sell it for £1200 and i bet youve still got it this time next year.

Mr Manchester, I thought I would just go and see the Autotrader site ...... in case you were right - it was as I suspected, you are, indeed, a complete dick!! I wasnt going to give you the benefit of my time (this is my third car after all!!) but what I found was:-

£1,695

FORD ESCORT XR3i Cabriolet, finished (F) in bright red, Escort Cosworth alloys, new roof, service history, very clean . . . . (trade) more info
£1,750

Of course we can all pick and choose our cars - but your 'MINT' £500 XR3 does NOT exsist mate - so be careful if you think it does - someone is stitching you up...................... I'm afraid its back to hoovering out those cars for you

Pete

Oh YES, Parkers say £930 by the way, just for your info.

Valuation for: Ford Escort 1.6 Ghia Cabriolet 5-speed

Year / Reg Above Average

1987/ D £930

You cant buy this car off me for £930 however Its just NOT for sale at less than £1200 ........... when you look at some, then you realise how rare mine is, with its A1 pedigree (all MOT's and ALL history plus Fully stamped service book!!!) you will see how well a weeks wages can be spent!

Enough said, you cannot afford a proper one, and mine is not for sale to you, I hope you enjoy your £500 MINTER!! ha ha ha

Good thread.... and a nice looking car.

£1200 the average weekly wage. Where, and any jobs going?

Mr Manchester - buying and selling cars, how come your profile says driver? Didn't see you listing any £500 cabriolets above - sure you're not getting confused with buying a taxi cab?

Mike.
