Default 220bhp 205 Mi16 - superb track car!

Ive reluctantly had to offer my 205 up for sale, due to grown up things like houses and stuff getting in the way. Majorly gutted. See spec below. Engine only has 1,500 miles on it since full rebuild (proper job, uprated everything). It has over 180bhp @ wheels, approx 220bhp @ fly. It has just been fully resprayed also (excellent job, paintwork was original and bit faded so decided to get her sprayed). Car looks absolutely fantastic, like brand new. Not one stone chip on her. Wheels are brand new. Good Yoko's on her. New MOT. Everything is uprated and she has all the proper bits you could wish for. Its the ultimate 205 sleeper as it looks pretty standard, yet she'll scare the living **** out of most things on the road. Had it for over 2 years and spent over 6 grand (not including buying the car). I bought it privately down in Preston (previous owner was like me, an enthusiast) with the Mi16 engine fitted, it also had the twin carbs and cams and was pushing 162bhp @ wheels. Decided to get it rebuilt about a year ago so she was off the road for a few months. The rear is stripped out and looks mental with the cage. Car has been properly set up on rolling road and is awesome to drive. Surprisingly easy to drive around town, its usable, everyday transport and is ultra-reliable. And it sounds awesome of course! New battery also fitted. Very clean under bonnet. Pampered to extremes (approx 10 services in last 2 years). I have all bills for work done, all carried out professionally by reputable garages. Only 77k on car (2 owners from new, complete with original purchase documentation, started life as 1.9 GTI) and as I said 1.5k on fully rebuilt engine. Carbs are fine, been re-jetted. Head work and engine build carried out by Agra Engineering (good reputation). Must be one of the quickest N/A Pug's in UK. All uprated parts fitted professionally with invoices to prove (huge binder of receipts like you wouldnt believe). She's not too bad on the fuel either, runs brilliantly on Optimax but you can use normal unleaded. Running costs aren't too bad, insurance was very reasonable (through specialist), as for servicing, I went a bit over the top, but you'd get away with an oil/filter change every 3,000 miles, full service every 6k and maybe one hour on a rolling road once a year. Iif you're using her daily that is. It really does look like a brand new 205. I drove it as my only car for over a year and it was 100% reliable.

Engine is uprated to take 8,000rpm. Peaks around 7,600rpm. Despite the power, it has not been thrashed and has only done around 2k in the last year (and 1000 miles of that was running her in). Have done quarter mile (before rebuild) a few times but each time she had new oil before the 1/4 mile day and then i changed the oil again the next day! Extreme I know but I am fussy. Performance times were achieved before rebuild, and she now feels quicker and sharper with more torque. It is genuinely quicker than my M3 Evo up to 100mph.

Does not need much to finish her off, if I was keeping it I'd fit bigger front brakes and a pair of light bucket seats then leave it alone. Handling is superb the cage really stiffened her up, plus the LSD is such a trick bit of kit.

One of the most sorted 205's around by far. I do have pics and a couple of vid clips if required.

Price? I'm looking for around £4,995. Means I'm losing £000's but I've had a lot of fun. Time to put the sensible hat on though.

Its a lot of money for a 12 year old Pug but just look at the spec. She'd give a lot of the Japmobiles a helluva run for their money around any track.

Its a reasonably well known car, been at Crail a lot doing 1/4 mile. You may however be confusing my car with A 16V RE which was Rab Elliot's grey 205 Mi16, it was one of the first 205's to get the engine transplant and appeared in Max Power many moons ago ... yeah its braking my heart to sell it needs must and all that. Its incredibly quick, been all over the back of a P1 on the back roads of Aberdeen, out-gunned a 911 Carrera on the dualler coming back from Crail, over the 1/4 an STI/P1/sorted Scoob/Evo will beat me off the line (obviously) but once we get going there's nothing in it. Its a fantastic car, thought it might appeal to some Scooby owners as a '2nd track car'. It'll scare a lot of 20-30 grand machinery for a fraction of the price. Car is unmarked and looks like a brand new 205. It'd almost be a shame to track it! It has just been a fast road car for me, never tracked, only 1/4-miled it.

I'll try and post pics, if not, supply e-mail addy and i'll send 'em on ... cheers

Pics are pre-roll cage and pre-respray. Car was mint before paint job so you can imagine what it looks like now!

Thanks Simon, they have been sent to you. Nah I need to sell as a complete car I'm afraid! Too much hassle splitting it up ... its one of the best looking 205's in UK and also one of the quickest, not many normally aspirated Pug's have dipped under 14 seconds for 1/4 mile...

yes it is extremely clean, has to be seen to be believed. Car was mint BEFORE the paint job, just had a couple o minor dings, but they've been removed. Only got it sprayed cos it was original 12 year old paint work so was bit faded. Its now back to original Peugeot cherry red.

No takers for this track day tool? Guess you guys won't want anything thats quicker than a Scooby!

Genuine Porsche beater and cheap as chips. Would accept around £4,500 but nothing less. Its all set up for years of happy and insane Pug motoring, stupid quick for a 205, watch the Cossie's run for cover!

Yes I have Gutmann, its at the higher end of the price scale for a 205 though, no one on their seems to have the cash, or reckon they can build one to similar spec for slightly less cash. but believe me they wont. Yes you could buy a cheap 205 GTI then stick in a non-rebuilt tired Mi engine, bolt on a set of 45's and maybe enjoy 180bhp or so for a short while, but you wont get the reliability and peace of mind, or a car in as mint condition as mine. Also all the bits on it are brand new. The Mahle pistons were £440 alone! Engine build over 2 grand. LSD £500. Cage £500. All suspension components - around £700 in total. Cylinder head work £500. bare metal respray - a grand. Various other bits and bobs - another £500 at least. Plus all the labour cost of the work done, most of the servicing was done professionally. All receipts to prove.

There has been some interest but I was offended with a couple of the offers. Its worth £4.5k minimum (nothing needs done, only seats and harnesses if its going to be tracked), as I've spent 10 grand in total, including buying the car 2 years ago. I had it insured at an agreed value of £5,500 through specialist insurance coy.

See how it goes. I'll need to sell soon though. Its also important to me that it goes to an enthusiast who will look after it, appreciate what they've got, and not run it down to the ground and neglect her. It deserves to stay in the condition that its in.

Cheers

Not bullshixtting ya if i hadnt already bought mine and invested a fair amount of cash into it then I would be serioulsy interested. I really need more grunt on the long uphill sections of the 'ring'.
BUT as I have spent the time and money on mine it aint worth my while.

Free BTTT for you though all the same

I know, cheers for the comment, I've had a lot of folk say "if i had the cash i'd buy it".

With the resurgance in the popularity of 205's, particularly for the track, I thought it would be snapped up quick as its one of the best in UK no doubt. Guess a lot of folk are buying old 205's, sticking in a cage, and tracking it in standard(ish) form. My car is really a sleeper for the road, ideally maybe a weekend fun car for chasing Porsche's and that. Almost too good good for the track! On saying that its an excellent daily driver, drives smoother than a standard 1.9 GTI.

Your car looks mint, I really wanted a Miami Blue 205, but couldnt find one with Mi16 already fitted for sale at the time I was buying this one.

IMHO your better off going the whole hog and making it look like what it is ...... A high powered track car.

As another thought have you thought about advertising it in the specialist track car forums, where competition kit is for sale? That kind of powered engine would be of interest to people i should think?

No, I've replied about this on the other thread i started. Rab (Elliot) used to own 'A 16V RE' (one letter out from mine!) which was a grey 205 Mi16 (one of the first to have that engine fitted, about 10 years ago). My first 205 was a grey one also, which I got Mi16 conversion done at Ecosse (where Rab used to work). I started to make mine a replica of his old one as I fell in love with it after seeing it in Max Power all those years ago. I bought the reg purely cos it looked like his reg (sad, I know...).

Thats my Gutmann 205,...... the Miami blue one from earlier is dream weavers car.

She is my track day toy, built mostly for the Nurburgring but used as much as possible on tracks around the country. Its only got 140 BHP but its been known to suprise and embarass a few higher horse power cars let me tell ya . She weighs 855KG and other than the tacky stickers its as it was when it rolled out of the forcourt from new ...wheels spoilers etc etc all as new.

Do a search on track days and most of the sites have a for sale section.

223 @ wheels?! ... around 260-270 @ fly?! that must have been some machine with some engine spec? Did you have any performance times? I find once you go over 220bhp or so in a FWD car its not really worth it as you lose the power you'vee gainedd through wheel spin. Certainly for short sprints anyway. Thats why I stayed clear of the 205 TT - great once they get going but pretty useless through the first 3 gears. I remember the guy at Pug Performance had a touring car engined 205 (280-300bhp?) and he only managed the same 1/4 mile time as I did!

The Miami is mine Al Its very clean, PAS, EW, full black leather, but unfortunately the engine is rubber ducked - just waiting for a quote from the ex BTCC guys

Yours is defo worth £4.5k. Mine has cost nearly £3k now, and thats without the forthcoming engine rebuild, no cage, etc. Thats if I decide to do it.
