if i got rid of the mrs she would cost me more than the car by the time she claims half of everything
She would probably claim she needs the car for the kids and keep it just to wind me up!

As much as it is going to hurt getting rid of it i have now resigned myself to driving a slower car!
What she does not know is it will only be a temporary thing i will get another one The only difference will be that i imported this scooby myself so i know its been looked after all the time it has been in the country .

I have just read the write up on SIDC about the car and i did not mislead him intentionally!
The seats that are said to be **** order are in my opinion good order the suede is all ok and the material around it is bobbled in places but not torn or ripped which for a 10 year old car is good condition,i have been in a lot of cars not as old as mine with tears in the seats !
As for the body work it has got a trolley dent in the drivers wing of which i paid to have it removed but where it is situated the chap that done it for me did say it would not be 100% .
There are 2 or 3 other dents in the bonnet about the size of a 5 pence of which i had not noticed before it is only when he pointed them out and i got down close to the bonnet and looked accross i could see them.
The respray on the drivers quarter panel i had not paid attention to before as i owned the car washed and polished it and was not looking for respray parts as it was to late as i had already imported the car from Japan.
I have never had a bang in the car the only damage i have done with it was when i parked the car in a car park i caught the front splitter on a curb and cracked it of which i had replaced.
As for the car being half cleaned i washed the car in the morning and as this is my daily car i had been using it and dust had got onto the wet panels making them look dirty.
For a 10 year old car i feel that this is a very clean car not mint and feel that he was comparing my car against his hawkeye of which was only 2 or 3 years old.

re-read my post please i never said the seats were ripped i said they were bobbled and tatty. And the suede is in poor condition on the base of the drivers seat.

You casually mention the FEW dents which in fact there are around 10 of them and 2 of which are on the wing you state there is only one on. After telling me it had been fixed proffesionally when clearly it is still very visable as is the one inches away from it.

The bonnet is 100% clearly buckeled on the leading edge which i pointed out to you there and then to your face. I never said you had the bump but it has had one possibly on the boat over but it is still information i wouldhave liked before a 1000 mile round trip to see the car.

As for the painted rear 1/4. You say you were not looking for it when washing or polishing the car. You would have to be blind to miss it mate as it is so glaringly obvious.

And finally you told me you had not driven it all day and had only nipped into town quickly for something then picked me up from the train station. Now way that car was washed completely top to bottom in the morning i could see the uneven sponge lines.

I understand you are trying to sell a car here and i am not gonna be a keyboard warrior and call you names and all that childish thing. The only reason i posted up what had happened is so someone else will not travel all that way to find a car that has not been 100% described.

Cheers
Melly

Before I address the points made, I'd like to say that I'm looking at this from the point of view of having been and Impreza owner 6 times over and having very recently been looking at examples of these cars as I have just returned to the fold.

Also, no matter how hard I try not to, this reply might well come across a little harsh and sarcastic at points.. due to the fact that me and my friend wasted a whole day (constantly travelling from 6am Sat to 3am Sunday), cancelled other plans, travelled 1000 miles and spent £600 on travel.

For gods sake, if you are local to this car and fancy a look, be my guest.. most you'll waste is 10 mins of your time looking round it and making your own mind up about the condition and who is/isn't telling the truth on this thread. But, if you are looking at this car with the intention of travelling any sort of distance, then tread very carefully.

Intentionally or not, your lack of accurate information or an honest description cost my friend £600 and a 1000 mile round trip for the both of us. The reason for my reply to this thread is that I don't want someone else having a completely wasted day and being stung for travelling costs if they've been fed the same information as Melly was..

He never mentioned they were torn?? However, they were worn more than is to be expected of a car this age/mileage.. missing plastic parts, cloth being bobble'd and the suede looking tired was what I picked up on when looking round.

Within 5 minutes of looking round the car, I was certain that I wasn't going to let Melly part with any of his hard earned cash for the car... The underside of the car is lovely (barring the exhaust backbox having had a run-in with a kerb or something, causing a long scrape and dent along the length of the 'can'.

The outside of the car was an absolute joke if I'm honest Phil. You were asked direct questions about the bodywork in pre-sale talks with Melly and while a small degree of correction is expected on any used car (to me anyway) the level of correction needed on your STi Type R is far and above being financially economical. I'll explain:

The roof is mint, but thats as far as the good news goes for me I'm afraid. There are various dents along the sides of the car, some of these are also on the contours of the bodywork which will prove VERY hard to remove by a visit from a simple dent man... not that it matters too much, the car is obviously no stranger to a bodyshop going by the state of the rear quarter panel which has been prepared poorly prior to being painted, the 'grain' of the filler is visible through the top coat.

How you can either miss this or have the brass neck to let someone travel from Scotland to view the car knowing that they want something in good order which they can be proud of is absolutely astounding Phil.

I fail to see how you could have owned the car for 3 years and not noticed these ripples on such a large, flat panel as the bonnet!! Also, the bonnet not meeting the drivers side wing is a little concerning.. whether its a bent bracket, mis-aligned bonnet (although other side shut gaps were fine) or due to the damaged drivers side wing... this should also have been disclosed before allowing someone to travel such a massive distance just to be disappointed.

You hadn't paid attention to it?? I read that comment as: you knew it was there.. it just didn't bother you and so never paid it any attention.

Great. Appreciate the honesty, just a week too late?!

Incorrect, as Melly has said.. the sponge trails were blatantly clear to see and curiously the rear quarter panel had missed out on some of the 'detailing' (note: sarcasm) love you claim to have given it.

Very clean, incorrect.
Average, possibly, if you squinted really hard and thought happy thoughts.

Once again, I'm putting this post up to defend the comments that Melly has made and try to highlight the mistakes in the advert from Phil.

I'm more than happy to hear from other people that have viewed this car, I don't believe that I'm being harsh because like I said, I expect some correction to be needed on a used car. For instance, the MY00 which I've just bought is very clean, but still requires the front splitter to be repainted..... but, this advert for the STi Type R is just a misrepresentation of the cars true condition, which I don't want other members to fall foul of.

Cheers,
Grant
