Default Redundancy ... WRX must go!

UPDATED NOVEMBER 1

CAR IS NOW SOLD!

.................................................. .........................................

Updated August 19.

Now on Pistonheads for £1,950...

http://www.pistonheads.com/SALES/1202157.htm

.................................................. .................................................. ....

Updated July 20 - anyone prepared to make me an offer? Anything reasonable considered.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Exit fantasy land stage left ... there's no work on the horizon and my threat to sell my lovely black WRX auto (first posted in March, see below) has become a reality. I'm still hedging my bets, though, that something will turn up that means it doesn't happen - so I'm only "advertising" here for now (it's also cheaper, as those who've been shafted on the job front will appreciate).

So here's the detail:
1. Black MY95 WRX Wagon Auto
2. First registered: 01/02/95
3. Imported to the UK and registered to me as the first owner: 12/12/06
4. Mileage at import: 63,300; mileage now: 78,928
5. MoT to 20/11/09
6. Tax to: 30/11/09

It's a standard JDM car with the following exceptions which came with the car:
1. After market "Racing" alloys
2. FET Turbo Timer TB-206 (I don't use it)
3. Nardi Torino Steering Wheel

I've added/changed:
1. Gemini Thatcham Cat 1 Alarm
2. Sony Single Slot CD/Radio
3. STi Back Box

General:
1. It has standard 195/60/R15 V88 rubber - Toyo Proxes CF1s on the front with 6mm of tread, and Barum Bravuris (Continental subsidiary?) with 5mm of tread on the rear.
2. Air Con Re-Gassed in February and still going strong
3. Regularly serviced
4. Run on V-Power
5. Averages 24mpg
6. Front discs and pads replaced approx 8k miles ago; thermostat replaced; fuel pump replaced

I've had the car for around 2.5 years and done under 16,000 miles - it's been used primarily as a commute car on a daily 45-mile round trip, duties shared with the family bus (Legacy) hence the relatively few miles.

It is in extremely good condition inside and out, as the pictures show, and underneath. It also drives really well. I'm not talking P1 performance - that's not why I got it. I wanted something reliable, cheap to run (petrol apart) and with enough get up and go to make it worthwhile.

So there you have it - a whole load of reasons not to sell! But go it must...

I'm aiming for £2,250

As before, be more than happy to hear all comments/observations, good or bad. Be even happier to hear someone would like to take it from one good home to another.

Thanks for reading this.

Dave Blows

Another one bites the dust - unfortunately it's me this time. Soooo... I'm just testing the waters on my JDM WRX 1995 Auto. I've owned her since first imported in December 2006 and she's been a joy. Completely standard apart from a Nardi steering wheel and alloys, plus a Sony single disc unit and Thatcham Category 1; 78,000 miles (fully converted); MoT and tax to December. I *think* I've attached some pictures I took last year (I'm old and a bit of a technophobe) but I'm sure someone will put me straight if I've got it wrong.

Anyway, early days - just keen to see if there's any interest and what it might be worth. I paid £3,800 in total; obviously not worth that now - any feedback appreciated, as would any interest in either more info or, better still, an offer or 2!

Cheers

Appreciate the kind thoughts - and the bumps!

I guess I'm also hoping those with the experience of selling similiar-ish Scoobs might be able to advise on the sort of money I should ask. I've looked around and broadly they seem to go for prices in the range £1,250-£2,750. Obviously a lot's down to the state of the market, who's actually looking for cars and so on.

But I'm not proud (mainly cos I can't afford to be!): whether you're buying, thinking about it, have sold, or just have an opinion, I'd be glad to hear from you. She'll have to go sometime soon!

Good luck mate. But me personally would prefer that P1 just hiding away

Well spotted Joey!

My pride and joy. The WRX is the day-to-day car. I'm keeping the P1 during the summer and then SORN beckons until a) I get another job; b) or if not, the market picks up and if she does have to go, I'll get a decent price.

For once the wife is being very understanding when it comes to the Scooby collection - she knows it's all I've got to show for a lot of years' work and how much it means to me.

And if she hadn't been so understanding, I'd already made plans to sell her wheelchair... (am I mean, or what?).

No worries, appreciate the input. I suppose I guessed it would be the low end of £2K and your view supports that. I'll get together more details and start advertising in the next week or so in the usual places (unless someone on here makes me an offer I can't refuse to avoid the hassle of selling....)

Hello sorry your having to sell.

I know what its like - been there recently and had to run a basic Ford KA for 3 years as my only car.

I was recently offered a 1998 wagon Uk spec (think WRX) 80000 miles, via a friend who knew I was looking for a cheap relaible runabout - he said it was mint (subaru mechanic owned), I spoke to the guy and it certainly sounded it, and it was fully serviced up as you would expect.

I was offered it at £ 2500 - he said it was worth £2800
not being a massive subaru fan I resisted and he put it on ebay with a £1600 reserve and it didnt get one bid.

I know this is not what you want to hear - but if it is only worth this type of money it might not be worth selling.

all the best
David

Thanks David - got to live with the reality so appreciate your input. Fortunately I don't have an urgent need to sell (hence the opening thread which was canvassing views). In fact I don't want to. But there's the reality bite again - I just might have to. At least, for the moment, I can be patient and see what's what and still enjoy the car. With Scoobs it's as much about having the right car to sell for the right person at the right price at the right moment in time - and that's where the luck (or lack of it) kicks in. We shall see...

Nail on the head - "have to" sell, not want to...

Not looking too hot on the work front - I work in the media and the industry is being decimated by the recession. It's all built on advertising revenue and that has completely dried up so jobs are being shafted left, right, centre, top and bottom.

Ho hum.

Sorry about the work situation, my ONLY input is that a few won't want an auto.... I'd be twice as interested in a manual myself.

But good luck with the job hunting, and the sale.

Cheers Dunx - quite agree! I'd rather have a manual but had to go the auto route for my other half who's disabled and can't cope with gears (irony is she hardly ever drives it, but that's not the point, of course).

What surprised me is that I've actually grown to enjoy the auto box. OK, it has limitations on gear selection round the twisties, but that only applies if pushing it, and I tend not to. Save that for the P11

I too know what it is like mate
I had to sell a WRX 330 BHP minter estate in Black 1999 V5 recently for £3600
Well worth £4500 of any bodies money.
People want them for pennies

Chin up and hang on in there for what you want for it - I would aim for £2200 as it looks
a nice car - sounds silly but impreza's are picking up on ebay lately - £12 for a 10 day listing
Good luck

Price seems fair to me, someone will get a bargain. Maybe try advertising in rural type magazines, farming etc would make a great farm vehicle or caravaning. Sorry not taking the pee
Sorry to hear about the job, I know what it's like as I got made redundant in Feb. Goodluck with the job hunt. Whatever you do though, keep that lovely P1.
