This is my baby so if you want to waste my time or take the **** please don’t bother. I’m only selling as I don’t think I drive her enough to justify owning this car as it only gets taken to events, shows and the occasional track event (two so far + once at the pod) which are very expensive. I need the cash for a part deposit on a flat and a holiday.
I originally bought this Impreza in November 2004 being the first UK owner since it was imported from Japan earlier in 2004. I’ve had other Impreza’s in between, but this has been the nicest.
As soon as I got the car a Thatcham approved cat 1 Toad alarm and immobilizer was fitted. The car then went into the body shop to have the paint sorted as there were some faded bits and some small dents. In total, as far as I can remember, the work done was: bonnet scoops, front and rear bumpers, front wing, one or two doors and the rear spoiler were all re-spayed. The work cost £500 and was well worth it as I can’t even tell what panels have been done now. I get loads of compliments on the paint and people can’t believe it’s a 1993 car.
After the paint was done some power mod’s were fitted including a front mounted intercooler, HKS down-pipe, powerflow exhaust, cone filter, Legacy ECU and a full remap carried out by Colin at Thames Valley Motorsport Ltd. Power is now estimated at around 280bhp and it feels that fast and some!
For handling set of leda shocks and 50 mm lowering springs were fitted and accompanied by a set of 18” Mania Racing Vortex R Alloys. There’s a set of 4 pot calipers and 294mm discs fitted for improved stopping power.
The ICE is subtle but effective (People think there’s a sub in the boot). A Panasonic MP3 head unit powers four infinity reference 5 ½” components, which doesn’t sound much, but it’s nice enough.
I’ve fitted a new timing belt about 500 miles ago for peace of mind as I can’t read the Japanese on the original service books. I’ve carried out oil changes every 6 months which for the mileage which works out about every 1500 miles.
Cost breakdown:
Car bought for £3250 in 2004 £3250
Bodywork: £500
Alarm and fitting £250
Pace Front mounted Intercooler £1000 (retail)
HKS Down pipe £200 (retail)
Legacy ECU £100
Remap £300
ICE £200
Leda Shocks + springs £300
4 pot calipers and discs £350
Wheels and tyres £950
Timing belt + labour £200 (retail)
The overall condition of the car is A1. There’s no dents, no rust, no wear to the interior, no rattles from the engine, the turbo doesn’t smoke or use oil and the transmission/gearbox is as new. Its got MOT until August 2006 (doesn’t need cats to pass due to model year!) tax is until 31/07/2006. Milage is approx 65 thou (100k's + 5k miles)
Faults:
Rubber boots on bottom ball joints have just started to split and one rear alloy is very very slightly visually buckled, but I can get that fixed for about £80 and the bottom boots sorted for £50 and some paint has peeled of the rear body kit about 10mm x 20mm thats hardly noticable see pics. Emissions light is on, but this is due to the remap and ecu used. Theses are just bargaining points I guess, nothing major, take them or leave them ;-)
The car is up for £4995 ono
BUT, Make me a decent offer and that price may come down quite a lot :-)
