Thumbs up 1998 Subaru Impreza WRX STI Version 5 - £4500 no offers

Subaru Impreza WRX STI Version 5 - photos added, £4500

Yes that's right, £4500. Photos now added at the end of the post.

You know the specification. Change in personal circumstances means sadly it's got to go. New job means that a company car is on the way so I have to sell on my impreza.

4 door saloon
Silver
Mileage shown as 32,900
Climate control
ABS
Front mounted intercooler
Momo tilt steering wheel with airbag
Power steering
STI interior with bucket style seats with red wing backs
White dials
Front foglights fitted
Short shift box
CD player
Alloy bonnet
Electric fold in mirrors, elctrically adjustable
Electric windows all round
Rear wiper
Gold 16" alloy wheels
Map reading lights
Remote central locking
Stainless steel big bore exhaust
Colour coded handles, mirrors, skirts
MOT and tax until mid June 2005

Blindingly quick acceleration. I'm not an impreza expert but looking at the engine it does appear to have been modified slightly which would explain the outrageous power most noticably it's got a front mounted intercooler.

Now for the bad bits :

One key and alarm fob. The car is listed as Cat D but has mostly been repaired. No service history. I'm not going to say it's immaculate because it's not finished but what's left to do seems mostly cosmetic. These are some of the things I've noticed on that would need doing to bring it back to its former glory :

Rear speakers - wiring is already there
Cigar lighter
Rod to hold open the bonnet
Front bumper is cracked at the bottom but would repair and benefit from a respray
Touching up required on rear bumper and passenger front door
Rear skirts need painting
Odd little piece of trim inside and in the boot to hold the liner in place
Fuel flap release not connected
No spare wheel

I'm being as honest as I can about the car. An STI 5 even from a salvage yard would set you back a serious amount of money. This one is not salvage and could be made 100% pristine by somebody with a little time and know how. Unfortunately because of my changing circumstances it's not going to be me. It would also make a phenominal track car or full blown rally car.

£4500 - no offers. That's got to appeal to somebody as the bargain of the year ! I start a new job tomorrow and a company car is on the way, I don't have the parking space to keep it.

No test pilots or timewasters please. Car is located in Peterborough. Here are some photos :

Cool Photos now added

Photos now added. Car has a front mounted intercooler which I hadn't put in the description before. Feedback appreciated with regards to price and demand for a car of this specification. Thanks.

Even with the work needed it seems a bargain to me. I assume the mileage isn't correct?

The car came without any service history so I'd have to assume that the mileage is what's been put on since it was imported. Price wise I wasn't sure what to ask but if you think it's correctly priced I'll leave it as is and hopefully I'll get some interest. Thanks.

Hi Matt

Really looking for a cash buyer, main reason for selling the car is to raise some cash. Tell me what you've got to offer and it might be something that appeals.
Thanks
Jonathan

Cool Price dropped to £4500

Price dropped to £4500. No offers. Starting a new job tomorrow and a company car is on the way, I don't have the space to keep this car as well so it's got to go. My loss will be somebody else's gain.

Holy cow ! Yes you're right, that's my car, parked infront of my house. What a cheek ! The car may well be going onto Ebay shortly but it's not there yet. Just got off the phone with him and he said he tookthe photo off Autotrader, that's not the photo I used in Autotrader.

Great spot, thanks, he's being reported to Ebay as I type.

Someone did the same to me when I sold my evo on ebay, they used a pic of my engine (which was pretty unique, one off tubular manifold, my own air filter heat sheild etc). I emailed him to ask what he was playing at and he flatly denied it and told me "why would I use a pic of your engine", then proceeded to tell me my car was crap anyway lol

Just as a guide for you to consider ...

I was offered 6800 trade in yesterday with a retail sticker price of 8995 (the dealer told me that price after I said I would flog the car myself) for my MY99 STi5, 57K miles and needing touching up on front & rear bumpers with new 18" wheels and brake uprades only 1700 miles ago .... no preimport history either to 43K miles. No other work required they said.

Good luck ..

Car is now sold and on its way up to Leeds.

Thanks to those who expressed an interest, but mounting pressure from work to get something more business like meant I ran out of time and had to let it go for absolute peanuts.

Going to be driving sensible german Munich-built panzer wagons from now on.
