Wink Sti 5 type r coupe engine(genuine 15000k)

Just testing the water on this(not decided what to do exactly)
I purchased a well sorted mega low mileage(26000k)type r back in jan this year(17k spent by previous owner on new strenghtened engine running motec ecu's,hybrid turbo etc)only for some split ars* to drive(at some considerable speed)straight into me in May,so the car was written off i was paid out and bought myself, what i would if i was hazarding a guess the mintest, lowest mileage 14000(but bog standard) type r in the country..
This is where it gets messy...i then managed to buy back my damaged car from the salvage yard and am definately going to transplant all the running gear + other goodies onto my new car..so then i will be left with my damaged car plus the running gear from my new car(currently done 15000 always run on optimax + ob guaranteed).A friend of mine is contemplating repairing the damaged car and so if he does he will obviously be having the engine(i have given him a week to give me a definate answer one way or the other, this as i said at the beginning is just trying to assess any interest in the engine should it become available, bearing in mind it is still in my car being used so could be inspected before i get somebody to do the open heart surgery
There will obviously be lots of other parts available if my mate decides not to repair it but i will let it be known asap
Just out of interest both cars are 99s type r coupe's(damaged silver, mint blue)
Also if anybody has any suggestions as to the value of the said engine i would be interested to hear from you
Thanks for your time Matt

U misunderstood mate the engine that may be for sale would be the standard sti red top out of the non-damaged car(15000miles)not the strenghthened one,as regards to price..u tell me...bearing in mind mileage(guaranteed genuine)

There are some short engines around at those sort of prices, but if I understand correctly the above is complete with ancillaries.

in fairness to catalunya he / she may not have realised, ebay isn't necessarily the best sales medium for specialised stuff like this, or may just want a bargain

I think a stolen full engine would command more than that price

Who rattled your cage?

We are all entitled to our opinions me thinks...
Just for the record if u read the 1st post by myself it is all self explanatory, with the highest offer for the said complete engine being £1500 at this moment in time, and judging by response's on this thread that is a true-ish reflection of its value, which is what i was trying to find out, should my mate decide not to repair the damaged car...

Your rite we are entitled to our own opinions ! and that was mine
I am interested in some of your items but not knowing IF and HOW MUCH they are makes it hard for me to buy.
Maybe you should wait to see if your mates having the scrap car first, then we all know where were at,as for offers ebays good for that.
I havnt got a cage

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEDW%3AIT&rd=1
I missed it ( no further questions your honour ;o)
although it says short motor it comes with heads.....

Talking

On following the link above by catalunya, i didn't notice any mileage verification! But i did notice it stated it was a short engine(probably lacking minor details like turbo etc)Hardly full of info on condition was it(although it did state it hadn't been run for a year)so probably knackered, but you never know u may find another like mine for £850..let me know and i will inform the police because i hate car thieves, until then u can always dream....

As soon as the guy posted this thread, i made an offer of £1000, then upped it to £1500.

I am still interested, and my offer still stands

Wink

I know u did fiestaboyand that is why i have said that is what i now pressume to be the true value?I will be in contact with u at the start of next week if my mate doesn't come up with the folding
And stevey as regard to your valuation you seem to of hit the nail on the head, and i apologise if my reply wasn't taken in jest,at the time i felt your valuation to be well short but at the end of the day it is worth what somebody is willing to pay,my own valuation in my head obviously being way too high
Thanks Matt

Ermmm E-bay by a long shot isn't the best medium although as mentioned some gems like the above can be unearthed.
"Wake up and smell the coffee"? thats just plain offensive I offered you a recent auction that ended similar to the price I quoted. I never said thats how much there worth....its only matter of how much someone will pay. free btt to ya but sounds like its already sold.
