shud get you a nice <60k mileage 53/04 sti. 05 wide track if your lucky/willing to travel.

peter zippy reid 11 December 2011 04:27 PM

willing to travel anywhere for a good one

LSherratt 11 December 2011 05:39 PM

"willing to travel" as in ...selecting your search result to within 200 miles for example so you get more of a selection/more likely to find something for a better price.

peter zippy reid 11 December 2011 05:44 PM

Would travel even 300 miles for a good one cheers

Daphne01 11 December 2011 05:49 PM

Daphne01 11 December 2011 06:19 PM

Nice wheels.

There is loads to read but before you make up your mind go and drive both. All anyone on here can say is which one they prefer. that said it's JDM all the way. shop around insurance wise, different companies are better for different ages/postcodes/mods etc

peter zippy reid 11 December 2011 06:26 PM

cheers guys does anyone have a insurance site for jdm cars

I'm with competition car insurance through swinton specialist. They gave me an excellent quote.

Picked mine up about 4 months ago, MY03STI ppp and you would still have £1000 left over to insure and a mod or 2 :D

A-Plan for insurance, tried G Moulson at Keith michaels more than a few times and never got a reply.
Cracking deal with A-plan, 25, 6 years no claims £840 if i remember correctly.Low excess, NCB protected etc.

You'll be able to get lower mileage, possibly cleaner, uk car for your budget. Jdm command a premium but worth shopping around. Looking at these cars above it seems that mine needs a heavy going over.

peter zippy reid 12 December 2011 08:58 PM

have seen a couple of cars im interested in they have between 70000-80000miles on them on 03/53 plated is high miles anything to worry about cheers

zayd 13 December 2011 12:31 AM

Be patient fella. I managed to pick up a MY05 STI with 78K miles on the clock, in mint condition for £6700. The 2005 model is a much better can then the 2004 version. It has; wider rear track, DCCD, longer wheelbase, improved geometry setup, revised suspension and a refreshed interior. Personally, I consider this model to be the best of the Newage.

Nice car i take it the milage isnt really a problem if its nearly 80000 miles cheers

monkfish2 13 December 2011 07:39 AM

I wouldn't think the mileage will be a problem if the service history is good and the car looks like it's been looked after, but the lower the better really.

L&G.scooby 13 December 2011 07:50 AM

What monkfish said, makesure it's got a good service history, cam belt done at 60k and such like.

zayd 13 December 2011 08:48 AM

There are people who are very pedantic about their cars. You'll know once you meet them and start talking about the car. With high performance cars, I think it's imperative that you buy from caring owners.

My car, according to the service book, should have had 6 services when I bought it in April this year. It actually had 13 services, all logged in the service book. The last owner only did 8,000 miles in the 4 years he owned the car. Just a weekend car for him it was.

Trust me and take your time to find a really well looked after example.

peter zippy reid 13 December 2011 09:13 AM

Ok thanks for all the info guys
