Anyone had a bmw x5 or similar

I am thinking about getting a x5 for the mrs we have a budget of about 10k. Would will be able to get a good one for that you seem to get a lot of car for the money.

Do they cost a silly amount to run ? Or are the bills similar to other Bmw.

Any other 4x4 you think might be better?

It will just be used for taking the kids to school and shopping. I know she doesn't need a 4x4 but she wants one.

Does a car that cost £40k new not need lots of money spending on it?

Thats why I have never been tempted could not justify huge repair bills...

X5s aren't cheap to run - thirsty, munch their large tyres quite regularly, priceyish to insure, etc. A £10k one is likely to be fairly tired and need a fair bit of TLC.

I'd aim for something more modest - Something like a current shape Grand Vitara, Nissan Trail, Toyota RAV4 or similar. You'll get a much fresher example that will cost much less to run.
