slight knock when lifting off

i have a slight knock when lifting off the gas pedal,

if im take the car to high revs/harsh acceleration and lift off this is when it happens, seems to be coming from underneath, its not rear shocks as they are brand new

during slow acceleration/driving its doesnt really happen (maybe once or twice)

its a blob sti with a 6 paddle clutch/lightweight flywheel

its almost as though something is settling back into place, the car goes in and out of gear without issue from cold or hot

bush/mount related perhaps?

the car is coming up to 97k

cheers

Check the bolts & bushings in the pitch mount between g/box and firewall, and the other engine mounts for that matter.

will get them looked at aswell,im guessing that at over 10 years old and 97k the mounts/bushes wont be in the best condition

anybody know which are a decent replacement and where to get items like this from?

cheers

Group n mounts and beatrush pitch mount or hard race.
They sell group n at icp.

What's the cause Alyn, breakage, loose bolts, wear & tear?

Dave Y 28 March 2015 05:45 PM

I have something similar,if I give it some beans on lifting off I get a knocking underneath. If I drive like Miss Daisy nothing. It has been on a ramp but couldn't find anything loose. I might suggest rear diff support when it goes in for MOT in May.

What was the outcome of this problem, did you get it sorted?

Dave Y 17 April 2015 06:07 PM

Shreksta did you manage to cure this ?

the shreksta 18 April 2015 07:30 AM

sorry matey,my diff bushes are shot so gonna try changing them 1st

Dave Y 18 April 2015 08:51 AM

ok.Mine is in for MoT in May so the noise will be investigated further I will let you know if it gets sorted.

bugeyejohn 18 April 2015 08:19 PM

I had this on my blobeye when I throttled on and off fast it sounded a little like slack in the diff. Eventually I found the problem was the rear drive shaft nuts weren't torqued up properly. They seem to have a habit of going off torque after a few launches apparently.

What this man said, I had the same and it was the axle nuts. I re-torqued them once and it started doing it again after 6 months so bought new ones. All is god now :thumb:

the shreksta 24 May 2015 06:08 PM

all sorted now thanks to a new diff tie bar and group n sti bushes from rcm, will put part numbers on 2moro for all those interested

Dave Y 24 May 2015 07:21 PM

my noise was the upipe knocking against the transmission tunnel.
The diff tie bar is on my to do list.
