I appreciate your opinion but you know what they say about opinions......

I realise forums are cliquey places and I've only just arrived but I've been a scooby man for 13 years and have a genuine car and put up a genuine advert.

I think WR Prodrive should be given a chance, maybe hes just a very busy man and christmas is always a busy time of year especially if you have a family too. I hope its as good as it sounds:)

I don't doubt you are genuine, but no one will buy your car for £5K until you put up some good quality pics and even then I suspect you will struggle at that price.

It's been 2 weeks since you posted the ad and all we have is one pic taken in the dark, even just in the time you have spent typing your replies on here you could have taken 3 or 4 and uplaoded them :lol1:

Every post I've made has been genuine,including the pic taken first thing this morning on the way to work after being accused of trolling and not actually having the car.

I'm not accusing you of not being genuine, just being honest with you about what you need to do to sell your car. That's all :thumb:

It is not about you not having the car. It is about asking more than top dollar for a car and then providing a grainy photo of your car in the dark. From that photo, all I can make out is that the front alloy looks slightly kerbed. Is that correct?

Also, a WR Sport, as nice as it makes a standard UK turbo, is not really worth any extra to be honest. May be £500 over a standard UK Turbo.

Plus, if you are really a Subaru enthusiast, you will know that running a de-cat exhaust without having a remap to suit (the prodrive map will not suit 100%) can induce over-boost, detonation and eventually, big end bearing failure. I'm sure the mechanic told you that, didn't he? :wonder: Probably not as the Impreza was quite a new beast back then.

Good quality photos will help this sale. I love the Impreza and also will, so it is nice to see a standardish car with 1 owner and low miles. :thumb:

(May be the lack of pictures is a deliberate ploy - you want to keep the car but the mrs wants you to try and sell it. If I was in that situation, I too would make half baked effort to sell my Impreza! :D )

I've come on here with a one owner,13 year old car with FSH and written an honest,full advert.

I am 100% happy with the way I have conducted myself.

You on the other hand have judged a car negatively that you have never seen,with no intention to buy.

unless the car was immaculate there is no way it will sell for £5k. have you looked at prices of classics recently? some decent pics, a price tag around 3.5k will help your "sale"

I replied to all your posts and arrived home at around 9pm.
I then woke up to go to work this morning and saw posts doubting the car was real so I took a quick I-phone pic in the dark as I left for work and I'm still at work now (replying to all posts about the car).
I will arrive home at 9pm again tonight.

Did you want me to take a day off work to valet it for you and take some nice pics as soon as you posted yesterday?

Regarding whether I really want to sell? Yeah it's time to let the car go,but I'm not in a rush and I don't need it to go immediately.

Who said anything about valeting it, a quick pic or two even with a sponge rubbed over it would suffice.

and secondly i'm not the first person to show interest there's a post #4 on the first page from a fella who asked for pics and you never sent them, even though you've had the ad up 2 weeks?

I find it very hard to beleive that you hadnt a spare 15 mins in the last 2 weeks to get a couple of pics, you must be a machine working 12 hours a day 7 days a week:thumb:

To be fair we do only get around 9hrs of light a day at the moment. :D

With all due respect if you have no interest in buying the car then what does it matter TO YOU whether or not the seller puts pics up or not..

Surely anybody SERIOUSLY interested would PM him and request pics etc..

Considering the detailed advert that is placed (which is quite detailed so 10 out of 10 for that) the pics will no doubt follow when the seller has the time to do so...

Seriously..... give the chap a break.. He is (trying) to sell his Impreza after 13 years of ownership. So he doesnt take pics every time he washes it and live on the forum.. Bloody hell..!!

What he's referring to is Speedline ST2 (which you listed the car as having) wheels are 6 spoke wheels (as per your library picture of the WR Sport) and your wheels are Prodrive 7 spoke wheels.

And that's not a criticism at all, as you may well have just spec'd what you wanted. Bit just explaining why it was brought up :)

If you really want top dollar.. My advice would be to get any bits tidied up, wheels for example look a bit tired. Maybe even get her detailed and paint corrected. A few hundred quid spent getting her looking mint to match the history might be worth shelling out if you want that much. There are buyers for really nice late classics, but it'd have to be very special for me to shell out £5k. Oh, and remove the advert and start again :)

I personally wouldn't worry too much about people saying they're only worth £2k because I know for a fact there are a small amount of buyers that will pay a good amount for the right car. I've said this before, but me, I'd rather pay 4k for a straight car with original paint and no rust than £2k for a car with rust on the rear arches. I went recently to buy a late uk classic for a mate and the amount of rubbish out there is unreal.

A few things I've noticed..

'Mint' = rusty, repainted in places, worn interior
'FSH' = had 2 services at the dealer back in the year 2000 but the previous owners' dog was a mechanic at a Toyota garage so he did all the servicing at home but ate the receipts.
'Will need a service soon' = current owner has never dreamt of shelling out a few quid to maintain it and now the dirty black oil is just tickling the very end of the dipstick pretty much guaranteeing the bottom end is about to expire.


Good luck with it. I'd personally just keep it, how could you sell the poor thing after owning it from new! It's worth (relatively) little in monetary terms and what can you replace it with?

I can't understand why people are giving this chap a hard time. If you don't think its worth what he's asking and you don't want to buy it etc don't bother posting. If he wants 5k then so be it. I want 10k for my rb5. Our cars so we can ask what we like.

I had/have plenty of interest in buying the car, as said ive had a few imprezas in the past and genuinely wanted another nice one a bit special to keep and take out on nice days. I have the money here burning a hole in my pocket and dont waste time when it comes to buying cars as ive travelled to england from Belfast for my last 7 performance cars.

Maybe im a bit like a kid at christmas as i got a bit excited when i read the advert, as cars like that dont come up for sale that often. I guess i just really want to see pictures so apologies if I have been a little impatient.

Interesting read this and I agree with a lot of whats been said from both parties.
Good luck with the sale, but your not doing a good job advertising on a national forum and expecting to get people travelling the length of the country based on poor quality photo's.

Valet the car, get a nice set of photo's up from every angle, down the flanks, every panel (especially the rear quarters), under the bonnet and the interior and you never know you may end up with the cash transferred to your bank without the new owner even travelling to view.

With the photo's I had on my add the money was in my bank 3 days before the new owner came to even view/collect. And yes it was a UK classic and for over £5000.
