Default 1500 MG Midget

Hi All

I inherited my Midget from my dad 2008 and it has been a pleasure to own since, I had planned/hoped to keep for longer but real life means its just not practical as there are 3 of us (6 yr old daughter) and I never get to use it and when I do I can only go out on my own, we are in the process of buying a VW camper van so cannot justify running 3 cars.

So about the car, its a 1977 Rubber bumper 1500 Midget with 64384 miles and an MOT till March 2014, we have owned it since 1994 and between then and 1995 it underwent a full nut and bolt rebuild where anything rotten was binned and replaced with new. I have a fully documented photo album showing all stages of the rebuild.

Scope of works included but not limited too:
2 new front wings
2 new half rear wings
2 new inner wings
2 new boot to floor reinforcers
2 new 'A' post outer skins
2 new 'A' post repairs lower
4 new door hinges
2 new outer sills
Replaced all jacking points
Replaced rear spring forward mounting points
Repairs to toe and heal boards
Refurbished rear axle inc new cylinders, shoes, springs, pipes, bearings, shocks
Refurbished front suspension inc new calipers, pads , bearings, kin pins, shocks
Removed engine and protected and painted engine bay body colour
Strip down engine inc de-core, re-gasket, re seat valves, new rings
Bare metal respray
Wax-oil and undersealed
Replaced ALL interior trim and carpets
Carpeted boot

Then in 1998
Shot-blast and stove enamel hood frame
New vinyl hood
New Roll bar

Then from 2009 to present
New RC40 exhaust
New Minilights
Twin K&N filters and re-jet
New rear leaf suspension

Other items over and above standard spec inc
Torneau cover
Full Torneau
Push button start
Radio and surround to match dash
Summer car cover (custom fit)
Winter car cover (custom fit)

Between the rebuild and today the car has only covered 5790 miles so is as if it was done yesterday.

The car has absolutely no rust anywhere, no dents and I believe is one of the best and most solid on the road both inside and out.

From 1995 to 2008 it has been stored under a purpose built car port and further protected by a summer/winter car covers and from 2008 kept in a dry garage, also dry use only from 1995.

I have all MOT's going back to 1993 confirming mileage.

The car has been on show many times at the Bromley Pageant so you may have even seen it in the past.

The car is priced at £3900 due to condition and any inspection is more than welcome, located in Greenhithe Kent just 5 minutes from Junction 1 of the M25.

If you have any questions please ask and feel free to contact me on 07971 404077.

I love these, almost bought one as my first car. Unfortunately I'm too tall for them

I know the chance of anyone wanting one of these on a Subaru forum is slim but you never know and someone you know may be looking for one!

Reduced to £3795 and just added 6 months tax.

Cheers

What a great little car... I had considered trying one of these out myself.
Very nice indeed, you can retro fit the chrome bumper on these as well for reference. Never driven one but quite a few are used in Motorsport

Ta, yes they are fun with back to basics driving, nothing electric, and no power stearing or servo brakes, but this brings no additional weight so nippy round town!

And yes did look at the chrome kits but decided to keep relatively oe for the year.

Cheers

Rubber bumpers go for a lot less and have a ceiling. Had the pleasure of a '74 chrome bumper midget a few years back with a 1380cc A series. Built as a hill climb car - seriously quick up to 40 and handled great.

This looks like a great little car - GLWTS.
