Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4.7HO 2002 LPG
2002 4.7HO Overland with LPG conversion, pace, grace and economy. The sought after HO engine is 265hp as opposed to the vanilla 4.7 at 220hp and is more torquey making for more relaxed and easier driving. Brilliant in the winter, and very useful with the recent floods.
After 3.5 years and 47,000 miles of enjoyable ownership I’ve become a Grand Cherokee convert- it replaced the WRX STi3 2.5l Wagon as the 6ft plus kids had trouble fitting in the back . Regretfully selling this one as just purchased a newer one – the family love travelling in it. In the view of many a much better purchase that many of the other premium SUV’s as it is as good or better in many respects, has all the luxuries and toys, yet is cheaper to buy and run.
Tax until end of April 2014, MOT until Dec 2014 (last serviced Dec 2013), 105000 miles
All the usual Grand Cherokee, plus those of the range topping Overland including:
Sunroof (electric tilt and slide)
Detachable factory towbar
Tinted windows (privacy glass in rear)
Full leather/alcantara interior
Factory upgraded stereo (CD, cassette, radio with boot mounted multi-changer)
LPG system with 95l toroidal tank in spare wheel well – the previous owner fabricated a neat wheel carries so the full size spare sits to on side of the rear luggage area. This alone cost 2k when fitted. With the lpg conversion it makes it a realistic family car. Commuting (lanes, main roads and urban) sees the equivalent or 28mpg and motorway runs around 38mpg.
Specs and info can be found on www.wkjeeps.com a great resource site.
Maintenance works include:
Power steering hose
Battery and starter motor
Front discs and pads
Track rod ends and steering arm
Driver door window regulator and motor (another common failure/design fault)
Front antiroll bar bushes
Front, rear diffs and centre transfer box fluids changed (including special lsd additive)
Dual zone climate control blend doors repaired. Always check that they work; due to a design fault they fail and can be dash out and expensive to repair - mine had already failed, which the dealer neglected to mention, so I had to have it repaired.
Bad points.
A/C not working
Cruise control not working
Drivers heated seat doesn’t heat
LPG causes occasional engine check light – doesn’t affect running or performance
Very good condition but with the usual car park blemishes that should be expected on a 12 year old vehicle. It therefore has a few scrapes on the plastic side strips and bumpers and a couple of stone chips but as can be seen from the photo’s that doesn’t detract from the overall good appearance.
Some dealers are asking up to 6k for similar vehicles to this one.
Test drives with proof of fully comp insurance or third party if the full asking price in cash is left as deposit. Ask if there are any specific questions or photo's you'd like.
Realistically priced at £3250 – cash on collection
pm with e-mail address if interested, have queries or want photos. Car located in south Beds.
