Audi b8 Tfsi what they like?
#6
I believe there were a few issues with the 1st TFSI engines but believe the newest ones are much more reliable. I don't have any real experience with them though so I won't try and pretend I know
But he's going for the German manufacturer that don't get stuck at the bottom of every slight incline at the 1st sight of a snowflake

However once done under warranty with revised parts it's all good apparently.
I was waiting for someone to mention this to see how common it was, hence me saying very little to get other opinions.
Isn't the 1.8tfsi better for the oil usage issue as it seems to be the 2.0tfsi engines (but what I can't confirm if it's the b7 engines or b8 as well, I'd of thought the b8 might of had revised components as Audi were aware of this issue but kept it quiet)

Its a revised set of parts - had it done on my 2.0TFSI A5, sold the car straight after as it was just coming out of warranty. If done right should be ok and it will depend on the age of the car
I think
EA113 in the B7 is not known for using large amounts of oil.
EA888 in the B8 has had issues with oil consumption.

My guess is that it was the new cars that were picked up on by the owners around 10-30k between services etc and had them rectified under warranty (I hope) so hopefully the older mileage ones had been done (40k onwards).
I'm looking at around 60k max mileage car.
And worst case scenario is apparently they only use 1 ltr every 4k or there
Abouts.
Or I might just get another BMW lol

Guessed wrong. I work 3 miles from home so Monday to Friday were 25mph runs max for the A4, similar journeys for the Golf Gt tdi.

Thanks, did yours get done early on in the warranty? At what mileage?

I would look for a car that has had it done and has an extended warranty
or go diesel

Done around 28 months into the warranty - 22k on the clock - new pistons and valve seals - you have to be pushy with them to get it done. I would guess there are cars out there that have not been fixed!

Apart from that I belive they are spot on.
As said above, diesel is not something I'd go for
And trying to find a tfsi Quattro avant to my liking is quite tricky as it is.

Yeah ive heard the 2.0 diesels arent really that economical, same as the petrols.
Spec is black pack (looks like black edition)
3g nav, not b and o (sad face), ami, 19" (would like them rotor wheels at later date)
My main concern was revised parts and 3g nav
Is yours manual it stronic? As the stronic is quicker than man by 0.2 secs to 60 due to dual clutch (changes are very quick apparently, dsg style)

It's manual, I don't think she'll ever feel the need to test the 0-60 times and we aren't keen on autos, especially when it was an extra £2k or so
The one you've found looks nice

Yep, I wanted manual but finding one in particular colour with nav and attractive price is non existent!
Tbh I've looked into the auto boxes and fwd have the multitronic (crap) and awd seem to have 7 speed stronic (good) and its not that bad as its only 2 mpg different to manual, and I have the pleasure of being lazy and paddle shift when I need to.
Although its not a race car so doesn't bother me. 4wd and nav, I'm happy.
