Default Electric Folding Mirrors

My garage entrance width is fairly limited due to the overhead electric door mechanism. Do most cars with electric folding mirrors allow you to drive with them folded in? or is it something that generally happens once you are parked up?

I have an E92 M3 and I can fold mine in and out when crawling along. They automatically go out at about 15mph so you'd be ok with mine.

mine are under manual (electric) control and can be retracted and extended at any time using a button by the drivers door

although the motors do struggle to extend them when doing 75 on the motorway - lol

(i was experimenting with potential fuel savings of having them retracted during prolonged motorway driving)

Our van has electric folding mirrors - they twist in a rather funky way but not sure if it makes the van much narrower at all…!

Sounds like your garage is a wee bit tight Fabioso!

My AMG has folding mirrors, hit a button on the centre console and they fold in, hit it again and they fold out. You can also select whether they fold in or not when you turn the ignition off!

Yeah the garage is pretty small but made worse by the fact its an overhead type electric mechanism which means the arms make the door entry narrower than it would have been. Basically its only 1950 mm between the arm shields which means a helluva lot of newer cars won't go in.

May be time for a roller type
