Weird wiper problem on Clio 197 Sport.
The lad's Clio 197 has been experiencing problems with the wipers, whereby they either wouldn't run at all, or would only run on fast, sometimes intermittently.
Searching forums I came across the fault probably being the wiper MOTOR itself rather than the switch, so bought a genuine one off ebay.
Today he got round to doing the swap outside his flat in Loughborough where he is at uni, it being a mild dry day.
He found the old motor standing in four inches of water where the drainage holes in the front scuttle were blocked.
He's cleaned it all out, unblocked the holes, sealed and fitted the new motor, and hey presto! it all works as it should.
Another success for car forums.

Way of topic here...... Need a new motor for the missis and she's liking the look of the 197 or a Cooper s , are the 197's any good or the usual French ****e?
I've tried pushing her towards the Cooper s but it's her choice

It's a Renault, what do you expect
Saying that the Passat I had also had issues with the drainage on the scuttle. The rubber drain plugs got blocked up with various crap and because the water running off the windscreen drained through the scuttle it quickly filled though usually reaching the pollen filter housing first on which the gasket would have perished so the water then drained into the passenger footwell through the heating system. Excellent bit of design Mr VW

The lad's 197 Sport is lovely: well-built, and handles like a dream. Most non-awd cars can't stay with it on track/twisty roads.
The engine needs revved for the performance, but that's true of a lot of normally aspirated cars.
