My T5 Camper build is coming along nicely
Started it just before Christmas and dropped her 40mm on H&R's at the weekend so starting to look right from the outside, loads still more to do and wiring for electrics next on the list!!!
Oh and hopefully my new 20's should be here soon!

I'm with Matty regarding the wheels.
I would love to do something along the lines of a camper but doubt it would be the full works as I woulden't use it enough to justify carrying a fully laden kitchen and bed everywhere I went, just a bed and a stove or something would suit me. get some more pics up though.

Really want a T5 campervan but I don't have the time (or patience) to build my own. Could buy a van and get it done professionally but the few calculations I've done seem to put it at £20k+ assuming a donor van in fairly good nick and not loads of miles on it. Due to the two kids I'd be wanting a full conversion with the bed in the roof etc. Fully converted vans also seem to be similar money or more but I like the idea of having something made for me

I'd have a combination of both vans.
Your colour mattee with his wheels, but saying that I'd be happy to own either as they are

Cheers guys, yep full conversion over the next few months, RIB bed, custom kitchen swivel etc.
Plan is to use it instead of the tent and to do a 6 week trip next year in the summer holidays with our daughter around Europe, wanted something I wouldn't mind driving instead of the Scoob so a T5 was the only thing to consider!
Drives pretty well with the 20's but that may be that I'm used to the Scoob!
Really wanted flat grey one but hardly any about and they along with a tailgate add on about 1k each to the price of a used van.
I think you could be in for low 20's for a face lifted van all in with low miles (mine has 36k) but would be closer to 25/26k if spec'd well, roof alone was 2k and the RIB seat/bed is £1800 so it soon adds up, saying that though by doing it yourself should save about 5k.
Ian, loving the Recaros!!!!

Captain Jack - fine job!
My Dad is doing a late T4 Caravelle. Looks good on RS4 style 18" alloys and tints.
Yes we cheated and got VW to do ours but it's been (and still is) a brilliant machine with very very slow depreciation. Thirsty (180bhp 4motion) but otherwise not too expensive to tax, insure and service.
A handy thing about the California is everything is under warranty, they start with a Caravelle base and it's mega insulated (including double glazed windows).
You get satnav, cruise, 3 zone climate, electric roof, remote controlled diesel heater, picnic table in the slider door, two good chairs in the tailgate, bluetooth, satnav, plays DVDs, heated seats, etc, etc. It's sort of like a low profile SUV that'll take you a long way in relative comfort. The engine sounds horrible but it works well.
