This is what is for now replacing the CS400,its a lovely old thing in great condition and is an absolute pleasure to waft about effortlessly with quite a decent bit of power if required. I bought it for a bit of a laugh, its had just 2 owners and has been very well looked after with full service history and a low mileage. I am really liking this car its way nicer than it has any right to be ....boy have I missed a V8 the last 18 months.

Love it
I had a 2004 XJ8 for 2 years and loved every minute of it. Everyone told me it would cripple me...... yet nothing ever went wrong with it.
Yes they have an old man image, but when you are serenely wafting along surrounded by all that wood and leather.... who cares

I had a jag too
4.0 XJ40 in kingfisher blue with a cream leather interior
No other interior makes you feel so special, almost worth taking up cigar smoking for

Wafting is the new drifting
Seriously though you can be cruising well in excess of the speed limit in complete comfort and can hold a conversation with your passengers at a whisper!
They aren't sports cars, but neither are they slow especially an XJR!

Love the new car, I was barely in my teens when the XJR was released but was hugely entertained by the idea of a barge that could accelerate as quickly as a Ferrari.
I remember an article in Autocar testing the E39 M5 vs x308 XJR vs W210 E55 AMG and badgering my father to get one of them!

I love old jags, never had the ***** to buy one though had a mate at college that had a daimler same car but more leg room in the back apparently, and another mate had a 3.2 I think, he paid a fortune for a set of tyres for it as they were a special size and everything else to do with it was expensive too, which was the main reason I never got one and went for old merc's instead.

Rivalling the wrx for my favourite car was a series 2 daimler 12 which had had the V12 replaced with a stroked small block chev, for a final capacity of 6.3l.
The transmission had a stage 2 shift kit so that under reasonably hard acceleration the rear end would lose traction a bit as it changed with a kick and a chirp from 1st to 2nd. And the sound. It sounded like this:
I loved that car.
