I know MLR might be a better place to ask but after 12 yrs of owning a Subaru I'm thinking about a change.Seen this on Autotrader and was just wondering what the Guys/Gals of Scoobynet thought.

I've got other marques in mind BMW,Audi etc

From that I assume you've owned one?
My son went from an STi (admittedly with just PPP) to an EVO IX FQ320 and reckoned the EVO to be far superior in almost all departments. There are a few things that are better in the Subaru but performance wasn't one of them! I was quite impressed when I drove it.

Check everywhere for rust and then check again!
My Evo had a rot issue that was covered with underseal, be very wary if its been freshly undersealed.
Mine was a 6 but 8's and 9's have been known to suffer badly too.

I sold my 55 plate 9 FQ340 with 25000 miles for £14.5k in spring 2009, so I think this is expensive.
Awesome car in every way except I couldn't get the exhaust quiet and flowing well. Cheap to run and fix for what it was. Amazing engine and chassis after Subaru and M3.

i remember the top gear head to head with an Evo and a STI (Blob)
and basically Clarkson came to the conclusion that "yes, on a lot of measures the Evo was a 'better' car", but when it came to the end of the photo shoot/test day and you had to pick a car to drive home in
the scooby won every single time (without hesitation)
