Default Astra VXR views

Need a new car soon, sat in the new astra today very nice. That and being interest free and lifetime warranty is appealing.

Although I'd like 4wd again it's hard unless it's subaru and golf RS are expensive

They also are not interest free, so I've discounted that
I've currently got one quote in, and a black one fully loaded with everything apart from lights upgrade, is 450 ish which is good.

But I've yet to get 2 other quotes.

Anybody any views on them, seem pretty good reviews, servicing is cheap. Uses any fuel and mpg is slightly better than my old 2011 saloon sti.

Thanks

LSherratt on here has one, never seen him say anything bad about it.

I think they're nice cars but lack the ability of the Imprezas.

The new one has some very good reviews, outclassing the Focus ST. I believe it has proper hydraulic rather than electric steering as well.

I've just replied to your message, but I do not have the new J model. Mine is the H model (57 plate) so can not comment on the new model. I am an active member on the VXROnline forums and you defiantly need to register and read the discussions on there.

I test drove the new VXR and to be honest i hated it, jsut seemed luke warm and didnt raise more than a smile. Plenty of gadgets but i thought performance and sound was poor and i hated the silly electric handbrake

Cr@ppy M32 gearboxes and unreliable turbos, that aside not an awful lot else. Personally I wouldn't bothet. They don't hold their value particularly well and the Corsa is a better handling VXR all round. Just looks a little juvenile in comparison. I've come from a Vauxhall background and would not go back tbh.

If you read the discussions on the forums, it does seem that people prefer the older model. Although the new one is stunning to look at.

I had the older Model 08 it was nice, only thing that annoyed me was the gearstick and rubbing ya hand on the seat when in reverse, which is fine until ya mates sat there, and your stroking his leg LOL

Ive extended the search now, Golf R/S3/A45

Im very surprised to hear that the older VXR is favoured. Isnt the new VXR to young to be having any issues such as Turbo failure?

I have an old shape 2008 Astra VXR, & I can't say a bad word about it, it has been very reliable, & looks incredible when it is washed, polished & waxed, (power red).

It has more gadgets than an impreza & is fairly nippy, but it won't put a smile on your face like an impreza does.
